أبلغ مسؤولون في الأمن القومي الرئيس دونالد ترمب أن الجيش الأمريكي بات جاهزاً لتنفيذ ضربات محتملة ضد إيران اعتبارا من السبت، لكن الإطار الزمني لأي تحرك عسكري قد يمتد إلى ما بعد نهاية الأسبوع، وفق ما نقلته شبكة "سي بي إس نيوز" عن مصادر مطلعة على المشاورات.
وأكد المسؤولون أن ترمب لم يتخذ بعد قراراً نهائياً بشأن تنفيذ الضربة، فيما وصفت النقاشات داخل البيت الأبيض بأنها مستمرة ومتغيرة، مع تقييم دقيق لمخاطر التصعيد والانعكاسات السياسية والعسكرية سواء في حال التحرك أو الامتناع عنه. وخلال الأيام الثلاثة القادمة، يعيد البنتاغون تموضع عدد من الأفراد العسكريين مؤقتا خارج منطقة الشرق الأوسط، إلى أوروبا أو إلى داخل الولايات المتحدة، تحسباً لاحتمال تنفيذ عملية عسكرية أو تعرض القوات الأمريكية لهجمات مضادة من جانب إيران.

Officials confirmed that Trump has not yet made a final decision regarding the strike, while discussions within the White House have been described as ongoing and fluid, with a careful assessment of the risks of escalation and the political and military implications of either taking action or refraining from it. Over the next three days, the Pentagon is repositioning a number of military personnel temporarily out of the Middle East, to Europe or within the United States, in anticipation of the possibility of carrying out a military operation or facing counterattacks against U.S. forces from Iran.
