قتل 10 جنود باكستانيين وأصيب 7 آخرون في هجوم مسلح استهدف قافلة عسكرية في منطقة تانجي بمقاطعة جنوب وزيرستان في إقليم خيبر بختونخوا.
وأعلنت مصادر محلية، أن مسلحين أطلقوا النار على القوات الباكستانية أثناء مرورها في المنطقة، قبل أن يستهدفوها بأسلحة ثقيلة، ولم يصدر تعليق رسمي بعد من السلطات الباكستانية بشأن الهجوم حتى الآن.
في غضون ذلك، أفاد وزير الدفاع الباكستاني خواجة آصف، بأن بلاده لا تعتزم إجراء أي مفاوضات مع حركة طالبان باكستان، مؤكدا أن الاتصالات الحالية تقتصر على حركة طالبان الأفغانية.
وقال آصف، أمس(الإثنين): «إن اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار بين حكومتي إسلام آباد وكابول مرهون بقدرة حركة طالبان الأفغانية الحاكمة على كبح جماح المسلحين الذين يهاجمون باكستان عبر الحدود المشتركة للبلدين، ما يؤكد هشاشة الاتفاق».
وأضاف آصف الذي قاد المحادثات أمام نظيره الأفغاني الملا محمد يعقوب «أي شيء يأتي من أفغانستان سيكون انتهاكا لهذه الاتفاقية... كل شيء يتوقف على هذا البند الوحيد»، لافتا إلى أن الاتفاق المكتوب الذي وقعته باكستان وأفغانستان وتركيا وقطر ينص بوضوح على أنه لن تكون هناك أي توغلات.
يذكر أن البلدين اتفقا خلال اجتماعات الدوحة على وقف إطلاق النار بعد اشتباكات استمرت لأيام على الحدود وأودت بحياة عشرات، في أسوأ أعمال عنف من نوعها منذ استيلاء طالبان على السلطة في كابول في عام 2021.
واندلع القتال الذي شهد ضربات جوية باكستانية على الحدود المتنازع عليها التي يبلغ امتدادها 2600 كيلومتر بعد أن طالبت إسلام آباد كابول بالسيطرة على المسلحين قائلة إنهم ينفذون عملياتهم من أفغانستان.
من جانبه، أوضح المتحدث باسم طالبان ذبيح الله مجاهد أنه تقرر في محادثات الدوحة «عدم قيام أي من البلدين بأعمال عدائية ضد الآخر، أو تقديم الدعم للجماعات التي تعمل ضد حكومة باكستان».
Ten Pakistani soldiers were killed and seven others were injured in an armed attack targeting a military convoy in the Tangi area of South Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Local sources reported that militants opened fire on the Pakistani forces as they were passing through the area, before targeting them with heavy weapons. No official comment has yet been issued by Pakistani authorities regarding the attack.
Meanwhile, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated that his country does not intend to hold any negotiations with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, emphasizing that current communications are limited to the Afghan Taliban.
Asif said yesterday (Monday): "The ceasefire agreement between the governments of Islamabad and Kabul is contingent upon the ability of the ruling Afghan Taliban to rein in the militants who attack Pakistan across the shared border of the two countries, which underscores the fragility of the agreement."
Asif, who led the talks with his Afghan counterpart Mullah Mohammad Yakoub, added, "Anything that comes from Afghanistan will be a violation of this agreement... Everything hinges on this one clause," noting that the written agreement signed by Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, and Qatar clearly states that there will be no incursions.
It is worth mentioning that the two countries agreed during the Doha meetings to a ceasefire after clashes that lasted for days along the border, resulting in dozens of deaths, in the worst violence of its kind since the Taliban seized power in Kabul in 2021.
The fighting, which saw Pakistani airstrikes on the disputed border stretching 2,600 kilometers, erupted after Islamabad demanded Kabul control the militants, stating that they were conducting their operations from Afghanistan.
For his part, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid clarified that it was decided in the Doha talks "that neither country would engage in hostile actions against the other or provide support to groups operating against the government of Pakistan."
