A knowledgeable Iraqi political source revealed an upcoming visit by an American delegation to the capital Baghdad to discuss some issues of mutual interest, noting that the visit comes as a continuation of what was discussed in the meetings held between the Iraqi and American delegations during their participation in the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit.
The source told "Okaz": "Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with the American delegation in Sharm El Sheikh and reviewed Iraq's vision for the security situation in the region and the necessity of cooperation in this area and other fields including health, education, and more."
The source added: "Iraq aspires to achieve a genuine partnership that aligns with the government's directions to achieve stability and develop construction and investment projects in a stable and secure environment, and it is also keen to have an important role in the stability and security of the region."
He pointed out that Iraq wants a high-level genuine partnership with the United States, in addition to Baghdad's readiness to be part of the solutions team for the region's problems with Iran and Yemen, leveraging its deep relationships with all countries in the region.
Iraq participated in the Sharm El Sheikh Summit held last Monday after receiving an official invitation from the United States and Egypt, in its capacity as the current president of the Arab Summit and having an active role in regional issues, according to the Prime Minister's advisor for foreign affairs, Farhad Alaeddin, who confirmed that Iraq's position is steadfast in calling for a ceasefire in Gaza and the return of residents to their homes.
He stated that Baghdad continues its diplomatic efforts to enhance security and peace in the region in cooperation with Arab countries and the international community.
