الخارجية السورية: الشرع طالب روسيا بتسليم الأسد

The Deputy Director of the Russia and Eastern Europe Department at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ashhad Salibi, revealed that President Ahmad al-Shara demanded during his meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin the clear handover of "the fugitive Bashar al-Assad."
Salibi stated in an interview with Syrian media last night that the Russian side showed a clear understanding towards achieving transitional justice in Syria, noting that al-Shara's visit to Russia aimed to reaffirm coordination and cooperation with all countries.
He said that Syria is moving towards reshaping its foreign policy in accordance with its national interests, adding that Syria is working to strengthen its relations with all countries and the international community.
The Syrian official pointed out that the new political leadership relies on the principle of transparency in dealing with the Russia file, while ensuring that the Syrian people are informed of all updates, adding that all agreements between Damascus and Moscow will be rephrased to guarantee the supreme interest of the Syrian people.
Salibi clarified that discussions between the two sides included establishing new legal mechanisms for cooperation on wanted persons and pending files, in addition to supporting the Syrian position in international forums, emphasizing the continuation of coordination with Moscow in the Security Council and the United Nations to enhance Syria's presence and support its strategic interests.
President al-Shara arrived in the Russian capital Moscow last Wednesday on an official visit to meet with his Russian counterpart Putin and discuss the common files between the two countries.
The visit focused on the bilateral relations between Syria and Russia, regional and international developments of mutual interest, in addition to discussions covering political and economic aspects and reconstruction files.
The former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fled to Russia after armed factions took control of power on December 8 of last year.
