كما انتشرت تقارير عن اعتداءات على مواطنين أمريكيين، من بينها حادثة اعتقال منتجة تلفزيونية تعرضت لسحب ملابسها، ما أثار موجة غضب واسعة واتهامات بوحشية الشرطة الفيدرالية.
مقاومة ورقابة
وسط هذه الأحداث، بدأ سكان شيكاغو في تشكيل مجموعات مراقبة تطوعية لمتابعة تحركات عملاء دائرة الهجرة والجمارك، بهدف توثيق الانتهاكات ونشرها عبر منصات التواصل الاجتماعي. كما تقيم هذه المجموعات ورش عمل لتوعية المجتمع بحقوقه القانونية وطرق التعامل مع مثل هذه الحملات الأمنية.
وفي الوقت نفسه، تعرضت حملة ترمب لانتقادات من مسؤولين محليين، أبرزهم حاكم ولاية إلينوي جيه بي بريتزكر، الذي وصف تصرفات دائرة الهجرة والجمارك بأنها تحوّل المدينة إلى «منطقة حرب» من خلال استخدام الغاز المسيل للدموع وقنابل الدخان ضد المتظاهرين والسكان.

Media outlets and social media have circulated videos showing assaults by immigration officers, notably an incident involving a Black young man named Warren King (19 years old) who was beaten to the ground after fleeing from a security intervention, despite his relatives confirming that he is an American citizen. King explained that he was held for hours in an agency vehicle, expressing his fear of the arbitrary actions taken by security forces.
Reports of assaults on American citizens have also spread, including an incident involving the arrest of a television producer who was forcibly stripped of her clothing, which sparked widespread outrage and accusations of brutality by federal police.
Resistance and Oversight
Amid these events, Chicago residents have begun forming volunteer monitoring groups to track the movements of ICE agents, aiming to document and share violations on social media platforms. These groups are also holding workshops to educate the community about their legal rights and how to deal with such security campaigns.
At the same time, Trump's campaign has faced criticism from local officials, most notably Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, who described the actions of ICE as turning the city into a "war zone" through the use of tear gas and smoke bombs against protesters and residents.
