The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the American President Donald Trump will chair a peace summit in Gaza this afternoon (Monday) in Sharm El-Sheikh, with the presence of leaders from more than 20 countries, and participation from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
While Hamas will not participate in the summit, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he has apologized for attending the Sharm El-Sheikh summit due to the holidays.

Phone Call Between Netanyahu and Sisi

The Egyptian presidency had announced the participation of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the Sharm El-Sheikh summit. It reported that Netanyahu made a phone call with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the presence of President Trump upon the latter's arrival at the Knesset, but Netanyahu's participation in the summit was later canceled.
Israel announced that it would not send any representative to the summit on peace in Gaza, and the spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that "no Israeli official will attend."
Hamas political bureau leader Hossam Badran confirmed that the movement would not participate in the signing process.
Diplomatic sources mentioned that the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey will sign a guarantee document for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza during the anticipated summit.

Arrival of Delegations in Sharm El-Sheikh

The delegations began arriving in Sharm El-Sheikh to attend the summit, which will kick off on Monday afternoon in the city overlooking the Red Sea.
The Egyptian president decided to gift his American counterpart the Nile Necklace "in appreciation of his outstanding contributions to supporting peace efforts, de-escalating conflicts, and most recently his pivotal role in stopping the war in Gaza," according to the official spokesperson for the Egyptian presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy.
The Nile Necklace is considered "the highest and most prestigious Egyptian honor, holding the first rank among them," and it is awarded to heads of states and their symbols who contribute to serving the nation and humanity.
The Egyptian presidency stated in a statement that the summit aims to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
U.S. President Donald Trump described the Gaza agreement as possibly "one of his greatest achievements," stating in remarks reported by Axios that the list of attendees at the Sharm El-Sheikh summit confirms that "the world is united around his peace plan for Gaza." He considered the attendance of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the Sharm El-Sheikh peace summit to be very good.
The countries that mediated to reach a ceasefire are expected to sign a document ensuring its implementation, and a diplomatic source stated that "the signatories will be the guaranteeing parties, which are the United States, Egypt, Qatar, and possibly Turkey," after the Egyptian Foreign Ministry previously indicated that a document to end the war in Gaza would be signed during the summit chaired by the United States and Egypt.
