أعلن مشروع مسام لنزع الألغام في اليمن اليوم (الأحد)، نزع 815 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة الأسبوع الماضي، مؤكداً تمكنه من نزع 2134 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة منذ بداية أكتوبر الجاري.
وأوضحت غرفة عمليات مسام أن فرقها تمكنت منذ بداية الشهر الجاري من نزع 1975 ذخيرة غير منفجرة و121 لغماً مضاداً للدبابات، مبينة أنه جرى تطهير 538,870 متراً مربعاً من الأراضي اليمنية من الألغام والعبوات الناسفة والذخيرة غير المنفجرة.
اكثر من نصف مليون لغم
وأفادت الغرفة أن فرق المشروع المنتشرة في جميع المحافظات اليمنية المحررة والأرياف لتأمين حياة اليمنيين ونزع الألغام والتوعية بمخاطرها نجحت منذ انطلاقة المشروع وحتى الآن في نزع 518633 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة منها 355930 ذخيرة غير منفجرة و8283 عبوة ناسفة و147503 ألغام مضادة للدبابات و6917 لغماً مضاداً للأفراد.
وفي السياق ذاته، أعلن المشروع عن نزع 2453 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة من مديرية ميدي بمحافظة حجة وحدها، التي أُطلق العمل فيها في 9 سبتمبر الماضي.
وأشاد أركان حرب المنطقة العسكرية الخامسة، العميد الركن عبده سليمان بجهود فريق مسام العامل في مديرية ميدي بمحافظة حجة، مؤكداً أن تلك الجهود ستسهم في تطبيع الأوضاع وحماية آلاف السكان من الألغام التي أودت بحياة العشرات من النساء والأطفال، وتسببت في نفوق المواشي وتعطّل سبل العيش.
دور إنساني سعودي
وأعرب سليمان عن شكره وتقديره للقيادة السعودية على دعمها المستمر لمشروع «مسام» ومساندتها الشعب اليمني في تطهير الأراضي من الألغام، موضحاً أن الدور الإنساني للمشروع السعودي سيكون له الأثر البالغ وسيعيد الأمل والأمان إلى المناطق المحررة.
The Masam project for mine clearance in Yemen announced today (Sunday) the removal of 815 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices last week, confirming that it has successfully cleared 2,134 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices since the beginning of October.
The Masam operations room clarified that its teams have managed to remove 1,975 unexploded ordnance and 121 anti-tank mines since the beginning of this month, indicating that 538,870 square meters of Yemeni land have been cleared of mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance.
More than half a million mines
The room reported that the project teams deployed across all liberated Yemeni governorates and rural areas to secure the lives of Yemenis and raise awareness about the dangers of mines have successfully removed 518,633 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices since the project's inception, including 355,930 unexploded ordnance, 8,283 improvised explosive devices, 147,503 anti-tank mines, and 6,917 anti-personnel mines.
In the same context, the project announced the removal of 2,453 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices from the Midi district in Hajjah governorate alone, where work commenced on September 9th.
Major General Abdu Suleiman, the Chief of Staff of the Fifth Military Region, praised the efforts of the Masam team working in the Midi district of Hajjah governorate, affirming that these efforts will contribute to normalizing the situation and protecting thousands of residents from mines that have claimed the lives of dozens of women and children and caused the death of livestock and disruption of livelihoods.
Saudi Humanitarian Role
Suleiman expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Saudi leadership for its continued support of the "Masam" project and its assistance to the Yemeni people in clearing the land of mines, explaining that the humanitarian role of the Saudi project will have a significant impact and will restore hope and security to the liberated areas.
