شب حريق ضخم في مصفاة تابعة لشركة «شيفرون» خارج لوس أنجلوس مباشرة الليلة الماضية، فيما تكافح فرق الإطفاء الأمريكية النيران الهائلة. وأفاد مكتب حاكم ولاية كاليفورنيا جافين نيوسوم على منصة التواصل الاجتماعي «إكس»، بأن الحريق الضخم اندلع في مصفاة الشركة في إل سيجوندو. وقال إن المكتب ينسق في الوقت الفعلي مع الوكالات المحلية ووكالات الولايات لحماية المنطقة المحيطة وضمان سلامة الجمهور.
وامتنعت شرطة إل سيجوندو وإدارات الإطفاء عن التعليق، فيما رفضت الشركة الرد على تساؤلات الإعلام، وفقًا لوكالة «أسوشيتد برس».
ولم يتضح على الفور سبب اندلاع الحريق أو ما إذا كان أحد قد أصيب.
وتقع إل سيغوندو، على بعد نحو 24 كيلومترا جنوب مدينة لوس أنجلوس، وهي مدينة ساحلية في ولاية كاليفورنيا، تقع على بعد 1.6 كيلومتر جنوبي مطار لوس أنجلوس الدولي.
