A Yemeni security source revealed today (Thursday) that authorities at the Port of Aden seized 58 containers weighing over 2,500 tons containing equipment for manufacturing drones, military and espionage equipment that were on their way to the Houthis.

The source stated: "Under the supervision of the specialized criminal prosecution and in the presence of the presidential committee, the security forces at the container port in the capital Aden completed the inspection and seizure of the largest Houthi military shipment that arrived at the Port of Aden aboard a commercial cargo ship," adding: "The shipment was en route from the Port of Djibouti to the Port of Hodeidah, but its course was diverted to the Port of Aden due to the ban on ships entering the Port of Hodeidah, as a result of the military events that the coastal governorate has witnessed in recent months."

Details of the Seized Shipment

The source indicated that the seizure and discovery of the shipment occurred during a routine inspection at the customs of the container port, after inspectors became suspicious of the containers carrying the shipment, which subjected them to a thorough inspection by the security forces and the presidential committee, assigned by a member of the Presidential Leadership Council, the official responsible for security and counter-terrorism, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman al-Mahrami Abu Zar'ah, and under the supervision of the specialized criminal prosecution.

The source pointed out that the commercial shipment consists of 58 containers, weighing over 2,500 tons of weapons and military equipment, most notably drones, their launch platforms, drone production equipment, weapons and spare parts, various lathes, and industrial presses specifically for manufacturing drones and weapons. It clarified that the shipment contains spare parts for many light and medium weapons, wireless communication devices, drones, jet engines, factory equipment, drone production workshops, surveillance and espionage devices, jamming equipment, and electronic chips for controlling drones.

Smuggled Equipment and Devices

It noted that among the shipment were raw materials for constructing the bodies and frames of drones made from carbon fiber, insulating materials, and raw plastics, along with the injection device for shaping plastics, aluminum alloys, presses, cutting and measuring machines, welding tools, oxygen cylinders, and protective clothing for engineers and technicians working in manufacturing factories and workshops. The shipment also contained sheets of iron of various sizes, centrifugal fans, industrial cranes, and both automatic and manual lathes used in weapon manufacturing, in addition to sensors used for thermal imaging and military surveillance, for detecting individuals, vehicles, and ships, adhesive strips, and advanced control devices used for monitoring and tracking, portable thermal cameras, as well as dual-band frequency detectors, static magnetic detectors, jamming devices, and non-linear junction detectors.

A Significant Blow to the Houthis

The source explained that the seizure of the shipment and its contents by the security forces at the Port of Aden represents a significant security achievement and a severe blow to the Houthis, who use commercial shipping and the Port of Hodeidah to transport military equipment, including weapons, espionage and military communication devices, and complete factories for producing drones.

Presidential Praise for Security Forces' Efforts

For his part, member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman al-Mahrami Abu Zar'ah, praised this security achievement accomplished by the security forces at the container port in the free zone of the temporary capital Aden, in uncovering and seizing the dangerous Houthi shipment, expressing in a statement sent to "Okaz" from his media office his gratitude to the public prosecution, the specialized criminal prosecution, and the presidential committee for their role in supervising the inspection of the shipment and initiating the investigation into the case and securing the seized equipment.

Al-Mahrami emphasized the importance of thorough inspection of imported goods at all land and sea ports, and cutting off all routes and means of smuggling that the Houthis seek to exploit.
