The Egyptian Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Atti, accused Ethiopia of grossly violating international law, asserting that negotiations with it regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam have reached a dead end.

Abdel Atti stated in remarks to the "Al Arabiya/Al Hadath" channels today (Wednesday), on the sidelines of the Munich Summit held in Al-Ula, that the lack of coordination regarding the dam has led to devastating floods in Sudan. He warned that the serious issue with the dam will arise during extended drought conditions.

Transitional Arrangements

In another context, the Egyptian Foreign Minister reiterated that Egypt's vision is based on an immediate cessation of hostilities and genocide in the Gaza Strip, while protecting civilians and ensuring their safety.

He indicated that discussions are underway regarding actions for transitional arrangements following a ceasefire, noting that the administration of Gaza will be the responsibility of the Palestinians themselves, without direct foreign intervention in internal affairs.

The Fate of Hamas

In response to a question about the fate of Hamas, the Egyptian minister confirmed that the fate of the movement is determined by the Palestinians themselves, and that current discussions focus on forming a transitional committee to manage Gaza without Hamas's participation, ensuring the continuation of essential services and stability in the region.

He pointed out that Cairo's role will be supportive of the transitional committee and then of the Palestinian Authority, emphasizing the importance of building on the positive factors in U.S. President Donald Trump's plan, such as unifying the West Bank and Gaza, to ensure regional stability and enhance peace opportunities. Abdel Atti stressed that there will be no displacement of Palestinians, and that the Rafah crossing from the Egyptian side will remain open to provide humanitarian aid, not for forced displacement.

Plan to End the War

President Trump presented on Monday night a 20-point plan to end the ongoing war in Gaza, which has lasted for nearly two years, including a mechanism for developing the sector and launching a process that ends with the establishment of a Palestinian state.

The White House published the plan's provisions, which stipulated that Gaza be a demilitarized zone, and that Israeli forces withdraw to the agreed line in preparation for the release of prisoners, during which all military operations would be suspended, and the lines of combat would remain fixed until the conditions for a complete phased withdrawal are met.

The plan called for the withdrawal of the Israeli army based on criteria, phases, and timelines related to disarmament, to be agreed upon between Israeli forces, the international stabilization force, the guarantors, and the United States, with the aim of ensuring that Gaza is secure and no longer poses a threat to Israel or Egypt or their citizens.

According to the plan, the Israeli army will practically and gradually hand over the occupied territories of Gaza to the international stabilization force according to an agreement that will be concluded with the transitional authority until its complete withdrawal from Gaza, except for a presence in a security perimeter that will remain until Gaza is secured as it should be from the risks of any renewed threat.
