شيّعت جموع غفيرة من أبناء محافظة تعز جنوب غرب اليمن، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، جثمان المسؤولة الحكومية مديرة صندوق النظافة والتحسين بالمحافظة افتهان المشهري، التي اغتيلت برصاص مسلحين وسط المدينة قبل أيام.
وأدى المشيعون صلاة الجنازة على الفقيدة، وسط حضور رسمي وشعبي واسع، قبل أن يُنقل جثمانها إلى مسقط رأسها حيث ووريت الثرى.
وأدت جريمة اغتيال المشهري، في 18 سبتمبر الجاري، إلى صدمة عارمة في الشارع اليمني عموماً، وأثارت موجة غضب شعبي عارم واستياء واسع.
وفي أعقاب الجريمة، أطلقت اللجنة الأمنية حملة مشتركة تمكنت من إلقاء القبض على الجناة وعدد من المطلوبين، إلى جانب عدد آخر من الفارين من العدالة على ذمة قضايا أخرى.
واستذكر المشيعون الدور الكبير الذي لعبته المشهري في خدمة تعز عبر إدارتها صندوق النظافة والتحسين، معتبرين رحيلها خسارة فادحة لشخصية وطنية كرّست حياتها للعمل العام وخدمة المجتمع، وأيقظت روح الثورة في نفوس الجماهير ضد الظلم ودفعت نحو تحقيق العدالة.
وفي لفتة رمزية، بادر المشيعون إلى غرس خمسة آلاف شجرة تخليداً لذكراها، في خطوة عكست المكانة التي حظيت بها، ورسّخت ذكراها في وجدان أبناء المدينة.
وكان اغتيال المشهري قد أدى إلى حراك شعبي ورسمي قاد إلى جملة من التغييرات الإيجابية في تكريس حضور الدولة وفتح العديد من ملفات قضايا الفساد واستعادة مقرات ومبانٍ حكومية، وملاحقة عدد من المطلوبين والفارين من العدالة بعضهم صدرت بحقهم أحكام قضائية بالإعدام.
A large crowd of residents from Taiz Governorate in southwestern Yemen today (Tuesday) attended the funeral of the government official, the director of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund in the governorate, Aftehan Al-Mashhari, who was assassinated by armed men in the city a few days ago.
The mourners performed the funeral prayer for the deceased, amidst a wide official and public presence, before her body was transported to her birthplace where she was laid to rest.
The assassination of Al-Mashhari on September 18th caused widespread shock in Yemeni society and sparked a wave of public anger and discontent.
Following the crime, the security committee launched a joint campaign that succeeded in arresting the perpetrators and several wanted individuals, along with others who were fugitives from justice in connection with other cases.
The mourners recalled the significant role that Al-Mashhari played in serving Taiz through her management of the Cleanliness and Improvement Fund, considering her departure a tremendous loss for a national figure who dedicated her life to public service and community support, awakening the spirit of revolution in the hearts of the masses against injustice and pushing for the achievement of justice.
In a symbolic gesture, the mourners initiated the planting of five thousand trees in her memory, a step that reflected the status she held and solidified her memory in the hearts of the city's residents.
The assassination of Al-Mashhari led to a popular and official movement that resulted in a series of positive changes in reinforcing the presence of the state, opening many corruption case files, recovering government headquarters and buildings, and pursuing several wanted individuals and fugitives from justice, some of whom had been sentenced to death.
