أعلنت الحكومة الأمريكية اليوم (الأحد)، نجاح مبعوثها الخاص بشؤون الرهائن آدم بولر في إطلاق سراح آخر محتجز أمريكي لدى طالبان، مبيناً أن أمير أميري الذي كان محتجزاً في أفغانستان منذ ديسمبر 2024 أُطلق سراحة بوساطة قطرية وأنه متجه إلى الدوحة.
تعاون مثمر
وقالت الخارجية القطرية اليوم، إنها يسّرت الإفراج عن المواطن الأمريكي أمير أميري الذي كان محتجزاً في أفغانستان، مبينة أن أميري في طريقه إلى الدوحة حالياً، على أن يغادر لاحقاً إلى بلاده.
ونقلت وكالة الأنباء القطرية «قنا» عن وزير الدولة بوزارة الخارجية محمد بن عبد العزيز الخليفي قوله: قطر تقدر التعاون المثمر الذي أبدته كل من حكومة تصريف الأعمال الأفغانية والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، مشدداً على أن دولة قطر تسعى دائماً إلى تفعيل جهود الوساطة لإيجاد حلول سلمية للصراعات والنزاعات والقضايا الدولية المعقدة.
وأضاف: هذه الخطوة تمثل دافعاً مهماً لتشجيع الحوار المباشر وتعزيز قنوات التواصل بين الأطراف.
خامس محتجز أمريكي
وأطلقت طالبان منذ بداية العام الجاري سراح عدد من مواطني الولايات المتحدة وكندا وبريطانيا في إطار جهود الوساطة القطرية، في حين أفرجت الولايات المتحدة عن سجين أفغاني.
وجاءت زيارة بولر إلى أفغانستان بعد أسبوع من مطالبة الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب حركة طالبان بإعادة السيطرة على قاعدة «باغرام» الجوية إلى الولايات المتحدة، مهدداً بحدوث أمور سيئة لأفغانستان إذا لم تفعل ذلك.
يذكر أن أميري هو خامس مواطن أمريكي تطلق طالبان سراحه هذا العام بوساطة قطرية.
The U.S. government announced today (Sunday) the successful release of the last American detainee held by the Taliban, facilitated by its special envoy for hostage affairs, Adam Boller. It stated that Amir Amiri, who had been detained in Afghanistan since December 2024, was released through Qatari mediation and is heading to Doha.
Fruitful Cooperation
The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated today that it facilitated the release of American citizen Amir Amiri, who was held in Afghanistan, noting that Amiri is currently on his way to Doha and will later depart for his home country.
Qatar News Agency "QNA" quoted the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khalifi, as saying: Qatar appreciates the fruitful cooperation shown by both the Afghan caretaker government and the United States, emphasizing that the State of Qatar always seeks to activate mediation efforts to find peaceful solutions to conflicts, disputes, and complex international issues.
He added: This step represents an important impetus to encourage direct dialogue and enhance communication channels between the parties.
Fifth American Detainee
Since the beginning of this year, the Taliban has released several citizens from the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as part of Qatari mediation efforts, while the United States released an Afghan prisoner.
Boller's visit to Afghanistan came a week after U.S. President Donald Trump urged the Taliban to return control of Bagram Air Base to the United States, threatening that bad things would happen to Afghanistan if they did not comply.
It is worth noting that Amiri is the fifth American citizen released by the Taliban this year through Qatari mediation.
