السيسي يشيد بجهود ترمب لوقف حرب غزة وتحقيق السلام في الشرق الأوسط

The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump to stop the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, following the U.S. President's meeting with several leaders of Arab and Islamic countries in New York on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Egyptian President confirmed in a post on his official accounts on social media his appreciation for the U.S. President's efforts to halt the Gaza war and "his pursuit of peace in the Middle East in general."

El-Sisi added: "We express our appreciation for what was presented during his meeting with several leaders of Arab and Islamic countries in New York yesterday, which I see as an important foundation that can be built upon in the coming period to achieve peace."

Earlier, leaders of Arab and Islamic countries issued a joint statement regarding the multilateral summit between the leaders of the United States and eight Arab countries and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The joint statement emphasized the leaders' insistence on the necessity of ending the war and achieving an immediate ceasefire that ensures the release of hostages and allows for the entry of sufficient humanitarian aid as the first step towards a just and lasting peace.

The statement clarified that during the meeting, the leaders of the Arab countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation expressed their gratitude to President Trump for calling this important meeting, highlighting the unbearable tragic situation in the Gaza Strip, including the humanitarian disaster and heavy human losses, as well as its serious consequences for the region and its impact on the Islamic world as a whole. They reiterated their shared position rejecting forced displacement and the necessity of allowing the return of those who have left.

They renewed their commitment to cooperate with President Trump and emphasized the importance of his leadership in ending the war and opening avenues for a just and lasting peace, stressing the need to outline the details of a plan to achieve stability, ensuring the stability of the West Bank and the holy sites in Jerusalem. They expressed their support for reform efforts for the Palestinian Authority.

The participants also affirmed the necessity of establishing a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, based on the plan of the Arab countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as security arrangements, with international assistance to support the Palestinian leadership, and expressed their commitment to working together to ensure the success of the plans and rebuild the lives of Palestinians in Gaza.

The participants also emphasized the importance of maintaining momentum to ensure that this meeting is the beginning of a path in the right direction towards a future characterized by peace and regional cooperation.
