في ظل انحياز الكثير من وسائل الإعلام الغربية لصالح الإبادة الإسرائيلية بحق الشعب الفلسطيني الأعزل، أمرت محكمة أسترالية، اليوم (الأربعاء)، هيئة الإذاعة والتلفزيون الأسترالية بدفع تعويضات إضافية لصحفية فُصلت بسبب منشور عن الحرب في غزة.
وقد رفعت أنطوانيت لطوف دعوى قضائية في ديسمبر 2023، بعد فصلها في اليوم الثالث من عقد مدته خمسة أيام مع المؤسسة الإعلامية، وذلك على خلفية نشرها على حسابها في «إنستغرام» فيديو لمنظمة «هيومن رايتس ووتش» غير الحكومية حول الحرب في غزة، وكتبت تعليقاً عليه: «هيومن رايتس ووتش تُدين التجويع كأداة حرب».
إجمالي مبلغ العقوبات
أمر القاضي الفدرالي داريل رانجيا هيئة الإذاعة والتلفزيون الأسترالية، اليوم، بدفع 98,900 دولار أسترالي للطوف، بعد دفعة أولى بلغت 46,100 دولار في يونيو، مشدداً على ضرورة أن يُدفع المبلغ في غضون 28 يوماً.
نزاهة المعلومات
وكتبت لطوف على حساباتها في شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي: «بغض النظر عن العقوبة، لم يكن الأمر يتعلق يوماً بالمال بالنسبة لي، بل يتعلق بالمسؤولية ونزاهة المعلومات التي نتلقاها من هيئتنا الإذاعية العامة».
فيما قال المدير الإداري للهيئة، هيو ماركس: «القناة ستواصل دراسة نتائج المحكمة، ونأخذ الأمر على محمل الجد، وعلينا أن نكون أفضل».
يُذكر أن الأمم المتحدة أعلنت رسمياً حالة المجاعة في غزة في أغسطس الماضي، فيما اتهمت لجنة تحقيق دولية مُكلفة من الأمم المتحدة الأسبوع الماضي إسرائيل بارتكاب «إبادة جماعية» في غزة منذ أكتوبر 2023.

Antoinette Lattouf filed a lawsuit in December 2023 after being dismissed on the third day of a five-day contract with the media organization, following her posting on her Instagram account a video from the non-governmental organization "Human Rights Watch" about the war in Gaza, along with the comment: "Human Rights Watch condemns starvation as a weapon of war."
Total Amount of Penalties
Federal Judge Darryl Rangiah ordered the Australian Broadcasting Corporation today to pay Lattouf AUD 98,900, following an initial payment of AUD 46,100 in June, emphasizing that the amount must be paid within 28 days.
Integrity of Information
Lattouf wrote on her social media accounts: "Regardless of the penalty, it was never about the money for me, but about accountability and the integrity of the information we receive from our public broadcaster."
Meanwhile, the managing director of the corporation, Hugh Marks, stated: "The channel will continue to review the court's findings, we take this matter seriously, and we need to do better."
It is worth noting that the United Nations officially declared a state of famine in Gaza last August, while an international commission of inquiry mandated by the United Nations accused Israel last week of committing "genocide" in Gaza since October 2023.
