أعرب رئيس دولة فلسطين محمود عباس، عن شكره وتقديره للمملكة العربية السعودية وفرنسا، وللأمم المتحدة، ولكل الدول المشاركة، على ما صدر عن المؤتمر الدولي رفيع المستوى للتسوية السلمية لقضية فلسطين وتنفيذ حل الدولتين، من إعلان نيويورك التاريخي الذي أقرّته الجمعية العامة بأغلبية ساحقة، إيذانا ببدء خطوات مهمة لإنهاء الكارثة الإنسانية وإنهاء الاحتلال، وفق الشرعية الدولية ومبادرة السلام العربية، وتجسيد دولة فلسطين المستقلة بعاصمتها القدس الشرقية، إلى جانب دولة إسرائيل في أمن وسلام وحسن جوار.
جاء ذلك، في كلمته، أمام المؤتمر الدولي رفيع المستوى للتسوية السلمية لقضية فلسطين وتنفيذ حل الدولتين، مؤكدا أن إعلان نيويورك التاريخي الذي أقرّته الجمعية العامة بأغلبية ساحقة، يؤكد أن الحرب على الشعب الفلسطيني يجب أن تتوقف فورا، وأن جرائم الحصار والتجويع والتدمير لا يمكن أن تكون وسيلة لتحقيق الأمن.
وأشاد الرئيس الفلسطيني بدور الوساطة المصرية القطرية الأمريكية التي تسعى لوقف الحرب، مشيرا إلى أن دولة فلسطين هي الجهة الوحيدة المؤهلة لتحّمل المسؤولية الكاملة عن الحكم والأمن في غزة عبر لجنة إدارية مؤقتة مرتبطة بالحكومة الفلسطينية بالضفة الغربية وبدعم عربي ودولي.
كما أشاد بالدور الكبير والمهم لرئاسة المؤتمر؛ المملكة العربية السعودية وفرنسا، في حشد المزيد من الاعترافات الدولية بدولة فلسطين، وحل الدولتين على أساس الشرعية الدولية.
The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, France, the United Nations, and all participating countries, for what emerged from the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, namely the historic New York Declaration approved by the General Assembly by an overwhelming majority, signaling the start of important steps to end the humanitarian catastrophe and end the occupation, in accordance with international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative, and to establish an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, alongside the State of Israel in security, peace, and good neighborliness.
This came in his speech at the high-level international conference on the peaceful settlement of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, emphasizing that the historic New York Declaration approved by the General Assembly by an overwhelming majority confirms that the war on the Palestinian people must stop immediately, and that the crimes of siege, starvation, and destruction cannot be a means to achieve security.
The Palestinian president praised the role of Egyptian, Qatari, and American mediation efforts aimed at stopping the war, noting that the State of Palestine is the only party qualified to bear full responsibility for governance and security in Gaza through a temporary administrative committee linked to the Palestinian government in the West Bank, with Arab and international support.
He also praised the significant and important role of the conference presidency; the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and France, in rallying more international recognition for the State of Palestine and the two-state solution based on international legitimacy.
