The Prime Minister of Yemen, Dr. Salem Saleh bin Brek, expressed the appreciation of Yemen, both government and people, for the positions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince, Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which are steadfast and constant in providing all forms of support to the Yemeni people and their legitimate government at all times and under various circumstances.
The Yemeni Prime Minister, Salem bin Brek, valued the additional Saudi support announced today, amounting to 1.3 billion Saudi Riyals (1 billion, 380 million, and 250 thousand Saudi Riyals), to support the state’s general budget and the comprehensive reform program being implemented by the government.
In a special statement to "Okaz," he said that this new support provided to the Yemeni people comes at an important time and represents an extension of the ongoing and continuous Saudi support, reflecting the true fraternal approach of the Kingdom and its commitment to standing by the Yemeni people and achieving their aspirations for development, stability, and peace. He pointed out that the new support from Saudi Arabia will enable the government to continue the process of comprehensive reforms, improve the level of services, pay employee salaries, and continue providing the best medical and therapeutic services at Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hospital in the temporary capital, Aden. He noted that this support came in response to the request of the Presidential Leadership Council, headed by Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, and stems from the Kingdom's keenness to achieve stability and growth for the Yemeni people and support the state budget.
He confirmed to "Okaz" the Yemeni government's commitment to fulfilling its duties in serving the Yemeni people, continuing the reform processes it is implementing, meeting the aspirations of the Yemeni people, and ending their suffering according to a clear and realistic vision that moves forward in cooperation with all brothers and partners with full transparency. He expressed his confidence in the continued significant cooperation from the brothers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the provision of assistance to Yemen in facing all challenges and guiding the country to safety, based on the strong fraternal relations that have linked Yemen and Saudi Arabia since time immemorial and for the benefit of both countries. During this time, the Kingdom has affirmed its strong commitment and steadfast positions in supporting the development and stability of Yemen, and its constant presence alongside the Yemenis is that of a brother in the most difficult times. He emphasized that the Yemeni people reciprocate the feelings of loyalty and gratitude to their brothers in Saudi Arabia and will not forget those positions and all forms of support that the Kingdom has provided to Yemen over the past years, considering it the primary supporter of Yemen, as it has been and continues to be. He clarified in his special conversation with "Okaz" that the two countries enjoy a strong relationship that does not exist elsewhere, as they are similar in every aspect and share the same destiny, kinship, neighborhood, and lineage, making it impossible to distinguish between the peoples of the two countries, who carry the same values, customs, and traditions. This is reflected in Saudi Arabia's positions, which have opened its doors to Yemenis, and it has never closed its doors. Yemenis live on Saudi soil and share with its people the blessing of security and peace.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had announced the provision of new economic and developmental support for Yemen amounting to 1.38 billion Saudi Riyals, under the direct guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.
This support comes as part of the ongoing assistance provided by Riyadh to support the Yemeni government and enhance its ability to face the economic and humanitarian challenges that the country is experiencing, in addition to contributing to financing developmental and service projects aimed at improving the living conditions of citizens.
Over the past years, Saudi Arabia has provided support packages and financial deposits to the Central Bank of Yemen in the temporary capital, Aden, which contributed to stabilizing the exchange rate and providing the necessary liquidity for financing imports, along with developmental programs through the Saudi Program for Development and Reconstruction of Yemen and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, and previously through the Saudi Fund for Development.
