أكد الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش أن ما يحدث في غزة فظيع وغير مقبول أخلاقيّا وسياسيّا وقانونيّا، في ظل التدمير الممنهج للأحياء والقتل الجماعي للمدنيين والمجاعة والنزوح.
انقسامات جيوسياسية وصراعات متصاعدة
وقال غوتيريش في مؤتمر صحفي بنيويورك: «العالم يواجه انقسامات جيوسياسية وصراعات متصاعدة وإفلاتا من العقاب وارتفاعا في عدم المساواة»، داعيا القادة إلى التحلي بالجدية واتخاذ خطوات ملموسة.
وبشأن تقرير لجنة التحقيق الدولية المستقلة الذي خلص إلى أن إسرائيل ارتكبت إبادة جماعية في غزة، أوضح أن الحكم القانوني بهذا الشأن من اختصاص محكمة العدل الدولية.
ولفت الانتباه إلى أن الأمم المتحدة كانت في الخطوط الأمامية للدفاع عن مصالح الشعب الفلسطيني، مشيرا إلى مقتل 400 من موظفي المنظمة في غزة، وإلى الجهود المتواصلة لإدانة الانتهاكات والمطالبة بدولة فلسطينية مستقلة.
The United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres confirmed that what is happening in Gaza is horrific and morally, politically, and legally unacceptable, amid the systematic destruction of neighborhoods, the mass killing of civilians, famine, and displacement.
Geopolitical Divisions and Escalating Conflicts
Guterres stated at a press conference in New York: "The world is facing geopolitical divisions, escalating conflicts, impunity, and rising inequality," urging leaders to be serious and take concrete steps.
Regarding the report of the independent international commission of inquiry that concluded Israel committed genocide in Gaza, he clarified that the legal ruling on this matter falls within the jurisdiction of the International Court of Justice.
He drew attention to the fact that the United Nations has been on the front lines defending the interests of the Palestinian people, noting the deaths of 400 UN staff members in Gaza, and the ongoing efforts to condemn violations and demand an independent Palestinian state.
