رحبت الحكومة اليمنية اليوم (الثلاثاء) بقرار الأمم المتحدة نقل المقر الرسمي لوظيفة المنسق المقيم في اليمن من صنعاء إلى العاصمة المؤقتة عدن، مؤكدة في بيان لوزارة الخارجية أنها خطوة أساسية لتمكين الأمم المتحدة من خدمة الشعب اليمني.
وأعلنت وزارة الخارجية اليمنية في بيان، تشجيعها لجميع الوكالات والصناديق والبرامج التابعة للأمم المتحدة على أن تحذو حذوها وتنقل ممثليها القطريين إلى العاصمة المؤقتة عدن، متعهدة بالالتزام بالعمل مع وكالات وصناديق وبرامج الأمم المتحدة لضمان استمرار إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية إلى جميع اليمنيين المحتاجين في كافة أنحاء البلاد.
حماية العاملين
وأشارت الوزارة إلى أنها ستعمل مع الأمم المتحدة لضمان سلامة موظفيها وجميع العاملين في المجال الإنساني في كافة أنحاء اليمن، بما يتماشى مع امتيازات وحصانات الأمم المتحدة والقانون الإنساني الدولي، مشددة على أن هذا القرار يُعد خطوة أساسية ويمكّن الأمم المتحدة من خدمة الشعب اليمني بشكل أفضل في جميع أنحاء البلاد ويعزيز التعاون بينها وبين جميع الوزارات اليمنية في مجالات العمل الإنساني والتنمية.
إدانة يمنية
وجددت الوزارة، إدانتها الشديدة لاستمرار الحوثي في احتجاز العشرات من العاملين الإنسانيين تعسفياً، داعية إلى الإفراج الفوري وغير المشروط عنهم.
وكان الحوثيون قد اقتحموا الشهر الماضي عدداً من مقرات المنظمات الأممية ونهبوها واختطفوا أكثر من 22 من موظفيها، ليرتفع بذلك عدد الموظفين الأممين في سجون الحوثي إلى أكثر من 40 موظفاً.
The Yemeni government welcomed today (Tuesday) the United Nations' decision to move the official residence of the Resident Coordinator in Yemen from Sana'a to the temporary capital, Aden, affirming in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that it is a fundamental step to enable the United Nations to serve the Yemeni people.
The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement its encouragement for all UN agencies, funds, and programs to follow suit and relocate their country representatives to the temporary capital, Aden, pledging to work with UN agencies, funds, and programs to ensure the continued delivery of humanitarian aid to all Yemenis in need across the country.
Protection of Workers
The ministry indicated that it will work with the United Nations to ensure the safety of its employees and all humanitarian workers throughout Yemen, in accordance with the privileges and immunities of the United Nations and international humanitarian law, emphasizing that this decision is a fundamental step that enables the United Nations to better serve the Yemeni people across the country and enhances cooperation between it and all Yemeni ministries in the fields of humanitarian work and development.
Yemeni Condemnation
The ministry reiterated its strong condemnation of the Houthis' continued arbitrary detention of dozens of humanitarian workers, calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
Last month, the Houthis stormed several UN organization offices, looted them, and kidnapped more than 22 of their employees, raising the number of UN staff in Houthi prisons to over 40 employees.
