أعلنت مسؤولة في منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة (اليونيسف)، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، أن المخيمات الواقعة في جنوب غزة غير آمنة للأطفال ومكتظة وغير مجهزة لاستقبالهم.
وقالت المتحدثة باسم اليونيسف تيس إنجرام للصحفيين في اتصال عبر الفيديو من مخيم المواصي: «من غير الإنساني أن نتوقع من قرابة نصف مليون طفل، تعرضوا لعنف وصدمات نفسية على مدى أكثر من 700 يوم من الصراع المتواصل، أن يفروا من جحيم لينتهي بهم المطاف في جحيم آخر»، مضيفة: «ليس أمام الناس خيار جيد حقاً، إما البقاء في الخطر أو الفرار إلى مكان يعلمون أيضا أنه خطر»، مضيفة: أن بعض الأطفال قُتلوا في مخيم المواصي خلال جلبهم للمياه.
سير نحو المجهول
وعبرت إنجرام عن ألمها الكبير وهي تشاهد أعدادا كبيرة من الناس يفرون على الطريق الرئيسي خارج مدينة غزة هذا الأسبوع، موضحة أنها التقت بإحدى الأمهات، وتدعى إسراء، التي قطعت الرحلة سيرا على الأقدام مع أطفالها الخمسة الجائعين والعطشى ومن بينهم طفلان حافيان.
وشددت بالقول: «كانوا يسيرون إلى المجهول، دون وجهة أو خطة واضحة، مع أمل ضئيل في إيجاد راحة».
وتحدثت وسائل إعلام ومنظمات عاملة في غزة أن الظروف هناك بائسة للغاية لدرجة أن بعض الأشخاص الذين فروا من الهجوم الإسرائيلي الجديد على مدينة غزة التي ضربتها مجاعة في الأيام القليلة الماضية يتجهون عائدين نحو القنابل المتساقطة.
عملية إسرائيلية
وأعلنت إسرائيل اليوم، بدء عمليتها البرية في مدينة غزة، المركز الحضري الرئيسي في القطاع الفلسطيني الذي أمرت إسرائيل سكانه بالفرار منه.
وتظهر بيانات الأمم المتحدة أن أكثر من 140 ألف شخص فروا حتى الآن إلى الجنوب من مدينة غزة منذ 14 أغسطس من بين سكان يبلغ عددهم زهاء مليون نسمة، بينما تزعم إسرائيل أن عدد النازحين يصل إلى 350 ألف فلسطيني.
A spokesperson for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced today (Tuesday) that the camps located in southern Gaza are unsafe for children, overcrowded, and ill-equipped to receive them.
UNICEF spokesperson Tis Ingram told reporters in a video call from the Al-Mawasi camp: "It is inhumane to expect nearly half a million children, who have been subjected to violence and psychological trauma for over 700 days of ongoing conflict, to flee from one hell only to end up in another hell." She added, "People really have no good choice, either stay in danger or flee to a place they also know is dangerous," noting that some children were killed in Al-Mawasi camp while fetching water.
Marching into the Unknown
Ingram expressed her deep pain as she watched large numbers of people fleeing on the main road outside Gaza City this week, explaining that she met a mother named Israa, who made the journey on foot with her five hungry and thirsty children, two of whom were barefoot.
She emphasized, saying: "They were walking into the unknown, without a destination or clear plan, with little hope of finding relief."
Media outlets and organizations working in Gaza have reported that the conditions there are so dire that some people fleeing the new Israeli assault on the famine-stricken city of Gaza in recent days are heading back toward the falling bombs.
Israeli Operation
Israel announced today the start of its ground operation in Gaza City, the main urban center in the Palestinian territory from which Israel has ordered residents to flee.
UN data shows that more than 140,000 people have fled to the south of Gaza City since August 14, among a population of about one million, while Israel claims that the number of displaced persons has reached 350,000 Palestinians.
