علّق الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، اليوم (السبت)، على المعلومات الحساسة التي كشفتها، للمرة الأولى، صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز»، بشأن عملية سرية نفذتها البحرية الأمريكية على الأراضي الكورية الشمالية.
وكانت الصحيفة قد كشفت تفاصيل وأسراراً مهمة عسكرية وصفتها بأنها «سرية وخطيرة»، نفذتها القوات الخاصة في البحرية الأمريكية، في عام 2019، للتجسس على زعيم كوريا الشمالية كيم جونغ أون، باءت بفشل ذريع.
ونفى الرئيس الأمريكي أي علم له بشأن العملية الفاشلة التي نفذها فريق القوات البحرية الخاصة رقم (6)، في كوريا الشمالية.
وقال في ردّ على سؤال من أحد الصحفيين طلب منه التعليق إنه «يسمع تلك الأنباء الآن للمرة الأولى»، وفق ما أوردته مجلة «نيوزويك».
وقالت المجلة في تعليقها على الحدث إن «من شأن المهمة المزعومة أن تشكل دليلاً على فشل الولايات المتحدة في تحقيق هدف استخباراتي ضد دولة أجرى مسؤولوها معها محادثات دبلوماسية حساسة».
ولفتت «نيوزويك» إلى أنه «نادراً ما يعلق البنتاغون والبيت الأبيض على أي من مهمات فريق القوات الخاصة البحرية رقم 6، إن علقا أصلاً».
من جهته، علّق السيناتور الديمقراطي كريس ميرفي، اليوم السبت، على العملية بقوله: «علمنا اليوم أن الرئيس ترمب أذن بعملية بالغة الخطورة لزرع جهاز تنصت في كوريا الشمالية».
وأضاف: «العملية فشلت فشلاً ذريعاً، وقتلنا مجموعة من الصيادين الكوريين الشماليين الأبرياء»، على حد تعبيره.
وكانت صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز» قد ذكرت، في تقريرها، أن العملية الأمريكية السرية هدفت إلى «زرع جهاز تنصت لاعتراض اتصالات من الزعيم الكوري الشمالي كيم جونغ أون».
وكان قد حدث ذلك في وقت عقدت فيه الولايات المتحدة محادثات نووية رفيعة المستوى مع المملكة المنعزلة.
U.S. President Donald Trump commented today (Saturday) on the sensitive information revealed for the first time by the "New York Times" regarding a secret operation carried out by the U.S. Navy on North Korean territory.
The newspaper disclosed important military details and secrets that it described as "classified and dangerous," executed by U.S. Navy special forces in 2019 to spy on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which ended in utter failure.
The U.S. president denied any knowledge of the failed operation conducted by Navy SEAL Team 6 in North Korea.
In response to a question from a reporter asking him to comment, he said he "is hearing that news for the first time," according to what was reported by "Newsweek."
The magazine commented on the event, stating that "the alleged mission would serve as evidence of the United States' failure to achieve an intelligence objective against a country whose officials it has had sensitive diplomatic talks with."
"Newsweek" pointed out that "the Pentagon and the White House rarely comment on any of the missions of Navy SEAL Team 6, if they comment at all."
For his part, Democratic Senator Chris Murphy commented on the operation today, saying: "We learned today that President Trump authorized a highly dangerous operation to plant a listening device in North Korea."
He added: "The operation failed miserably, and we killed a group of innocent North Korean fishermen," as he put it.
The "New York Times" had reported in its article that the secret U.S. operation aimed to "plant a listening device to intercept communications from North Korean leader Kim Jong Un."
This occurred at a time when the United States was holding high-level nuclear talks with the isolated kingdom.
