The leader of the Houthis, Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, acknowledged today (Sunday) the existence of a breach within his group, confirming that his security apparatus is working on a mission to "fortify the internal front against infiltration."
Al-Houthi described the killing of his prime minister and several ministers as a "crime," and vowed to carry out more attacks on the occupied Palestinian territories.
Israel had targeted a meeting of the Houthi coup government on Thursday in the Hadda neighborhood of central Sana'a to follow up on the speech of the group's leader, resulting in the deaths of the prime minister, 9 ministers, and security officials, with others injured. Houthi militants cordoned off the explosion site and prevented Yemenis from entering or leaving the neighborhood. The Houthi coup government attempted to cover up the incident, claiming at the time that the targeted site was civilian and that there were no casualties among the group. However, two days later, they issued a statement acknowledging the incident, and they have yet to announce the names of the deceased and injured ministers, who are still in critical condition. Yemeni sources reported that the Israeli bombardment resulted in the deaths of 9 ministers and serious injuries to 3 others, while 3 ministers sustained minor injuries, and 3 other ministers did not attend the meeting.
Meanwhile, the Houthis stormed today the offices of the World Food Program and UNICEF, both affiliated with the United Nations, in the capital, Sana'a, and arrested several staff members. According to Yemeni human rights and media sources, about 7 employees from the World Food Program and 3 others from UNICEF were taken from their workplace to an unknown location.
The sources indicated that the Houthis obstructed the work and activities of the two organizations, raising concerns and fears among Yemenis who are living in dire humanitarian conditions due to the systematic looting of their savings by the Houthis, which threatens a new humanitarian crisis.
