وتداولت مواقع إعلامية خبراً مفاده أن انتشار هذا الوسم تزامن مع عُطل غير متوقع في البث المباشر الرسمي للبيت الأبيض، والذي عرض رسالة تنص على: «ترقبونا - سنعود مباشرة قريباً».
وبدأ المشاركون في تقصي الحقيقة حول وضع الرئيس الأمريكي بإعادة نشر صور سابقة أظهرت وجود بقع غريبة الشكل على يد ترمب مشبهين إياها ببقع ظهرت على يد الملكة إليزابيث الثانية قبل وفاتها، مما أثار المزيد من التكهنات.
