استدعى الاتحاد الأوروبي، اليوم (الخميس)، مندوب روسيا في بروكسل، وذلك عقب استهداف روسي لمواقع مدنية ومؤسسات ومراكز قيادة أوكرانية في كييف.
واعتبرت رئيسة المفوضية الأوروبية، أورسولا فون دير لاين، أن الضربات الروسية الليلية على كييف، والتي أسفرت عن مقتل 14 شخصاً وألحقت أضراراً بمقر بعثة التكتل، تظهر أن موسكو لن يثنيها شيء عن ترهيب أوكرانيا، مشددة بالقول: «إن الهجوم كان الأكثر حصداً للأرواح في العاصمة منذ يوليو، وهو أيضاً اعتداء على بعثتنا».
وأضافت: إن الهجوم يظهر أن الكرملين لن يثنيه أي شيء عن ترهيب أوكرانيا والقتل الأعمى للمدنيين، الرجال والنساء والأطفال، وحتى استهداف الاتحاد الأوروبي، مبينة أن قذيفتين سقطتا على مسافة 50 متراً من مقر البعثة، تفصل بينهما 20 ثانية.
وأشارت إلى أنها تشعر بالغضب لسقوط الصواريخ بالقرب من مقر البعثة الأوروبية.
وتوعدت المفوضية الأوروبية بالعمل على زيادة استخدام الأصول الروسية المجمدة لدعم أوكرانيا، وفرض الحزمة 19 من العقوبات على موسكو قريباً.
في غضون ذلك، قال مسؤولون أوكرانيون إن القوات الروسية شنت هجوماً كبيراً بطائرات مسيّرة وصواريخ على كييف خلال الليل، ما أودى بحياة 10 أشخاص وإصابة 38، وإلحاق أضرار ببنايات سكنية ومنشآت في عدة أحياء بالمدينة.
وأوضح الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي أن الهجوم أظهر للعالم رد روسيا على الدبلوماسية وسط جهود الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب لإنهاء الحرب، مبيناً أن روسيا تختار الصواريخ الباليستية بدلاً من المفاوضات، وتختار مواصلة إراقة الدماء بدلاً من إنهاء الحرب.
وطالب زيلينسكي بفرض عقوبات جديدة على موسكو.
وكانت وزارة الدفاع الروسية قد قالت إنها شنت «ضربة مكثفة» على أوكرانيا باستخدام صواريخ «كينجال» فرط صوتية وطائرات مسيّرة وصواريخ عالية الدقة تطلق من الجو، مبينة أنها استهدفت مؤسسات المجمع الصناعي العسكري والقواعد الجوية العسكرية الأوكرانية بالصواريخ الفرط صوتية.
من جهة أخرى، اسدعت الخارجية البريطانية اليوم سفير روسيا بعد الغارات التي استهدفت العاصمة الأوكرانية كييف للتعبير عن احتجاها على هذه الغارات.
The European Union summoned the Russian envoy in Brussels today (Thursday), following Russian strikes on civilian sites and Ukrainian command centers in Kyiv.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the nighttime Russian strikes on Kyiv, which resulted in the deaths of 14 people and damaged the headquarters of the EU mission, demonstrate that Moscow will not be deterred from terrorizing Ukraine, emphasizing: "This attack was the deadliest in the capital since July, and it is also an assault on our mission."
She added that the attack shows that the Kremlin will not be deterred from terrorizing Ukraine and the blind killing of civilians, men, women, and children, even targeting the European Union, noting that two missiles fell just 50 meters from the mission's headquarters, with a 20-second interval between them.
She expressed her anger over the missiles falling near the European mission's headquarters.
The European Commission vowed to work on increasing the use of frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine and to impose the 19th package of sanctions on Moscow soon.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian officials reported that Russian forces launched a major attack with drones and missiles on Kyiv overnight, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 38, causing damage to residential buildings and facilities in several neighborhoods of the city.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky explained that the attack demonstrated to the world Russia's response to diplomacy amid efforts by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war, indicating that Russia chooses ballistic missiles over negotiations and opts to continue the bloodshed instead of ending the war.
Zelensky called for new sanctions against Moscow.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that it carried out a "massive strike" on Ukraine using Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, drones, and precision-guided missiles launched from the air, indicating that it targeted military-industrial complex institutions and Ukrainian military airbases with hypersonic missiles.
On another note, the British Foreign Office summoned the Russian ambassador today after the airstrikes targeting the Ukrainian capital Kyiv to express its protest against these strikes.
