كشفت وسائل إعلام غربية، اليوم (الأربعاء)، استعداداً أمريكيّاً لتقديم دعم عسكري واستخباراتي واسع النطاق لتمكين أي بعثة محتملة لحفظ السلام في أوكرانيا بعد الحرب، مؤكدة أن الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية أبلغت حلفاءها الأوروبيين بذلك.
وذكرت صحيفة «فاينانشال تايمز» البريطانية إن العرض الأمريكي يشمل توفير أصول حيوية في مجالات الاستخبارات والمراقبة والاستطلاع، إلى جانب أنظمة القيادة والتحكم، إضافة إلى طائرات عسكرية وأنظمة دفاع جوي متقدمة قادرة على تشكيل درع دفاعي بري وجوي فوق الأراضي الأوكرانية، متوقعة أن يتضمن ذلك رادارات أرضية، وطائرات لوجستية، وربما نشر بطاريات دفاعية مثل «باتريوت»، بما يتيح فرض منطقة حظر طيران جزئية لدعم مهمة أوروبية على الأرض.
وأشارت الصحيفة إلى أن العرض الأمريكي جاء خلال سلسلة اجتماعات رفيعة المستوى عقدها مسؤولون أمنيون أمريكيون مع قادة عسكريين من بريطانيا وفرنسا وإيطاليا في الأيام الأخيرة، مبينة أن واشنطن شدّدت على أن مشاركتها ستكون مشروطة بالتزام الدول الأوروبية بنشر عشرات الآلاف من الجنود داخل أوكرانيا لتأمين مهام حفظ السلام.
وأفادت الصحيفة أن الولايات المتحدة لا تعتزم إرسال قوات برية خاصة بها، وإنما ستقتصر مشاركتها على دور داعم وتمكيني في الجو والاستخبارات، وبحسب الصحيفة إن هذا التوجه يمثل تحولاً عن الموقف الأمريكي السابق، الذي كان يستبعد أية التزامات أمنية طويلة الأمد بعد الحرب.
وتدفع دول أوروبية عدة، خصوصاً بريطانيا وفرنسا، باتجاه تعزيز القدرات الدفاعية للقارة وزيادة الإنفاق العسكري، في ظل استمرار حالة الغموض بشأن مستقبل المحادثات مع روسيا، غير أن هذا المشروع يواجه تحديات كبيرة، خصوصاً مع بروز تردد داخل بعض الدول الأوروبية مثل ألمانيا وإيطاليا.
Western media revealed today (Wednesday) an American readiness to provide extensive military and intelligence support to enable any potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine after the war, confirming that the United States has informed its European allies of this.
The British newspaper "Financial Times" reported that the American offer includes providing vital assets in the fields of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, along with command and control systems, in addition to military aircraft and advanced air defense systems capable of forming a ground and air defense shield over Ukrainian territory. It is expected that this will include ground radars, logistical aircraft, and possibly the deployment of defensive batteries like "Patriot," which would allow for the establishment of a partial no-fly zone to support a European mission on the ground.
The newspaper indicated that the American offer came during a series of high-level meetings held by American security officials with military leaders from Britain, France, and Italy in recent days, noting that Washington emphasized that its participation would be conditional on European countries committing to deploy tens of thousands of soldiers within Ukraine to secure peacekeeping missions.
The newspaper reported that the United States does not intend to send its own ground troops but will limit its participation to a supportive and enabling role in the air and intelligence. According to the newspaper, this approach represents a shift from the previous American position, which excluded any long-term security commitments after the war.
Several European countries, particularly Britain and France, are pushing to enhance the continent's defense capabilities and increase military spending amid ongoing uncertainty regarding the future of talks with Russia. However, this project faces significant challenges, especially with the emergence of hesitation within some European countries like Germany and Italy.
