Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has threatened to destroy the city of Gaza if Hamas does not relinquish its weapons and release all hostages still in captivity.

During the announcement of the completion of the army's plans to occupy the city of Gaza, Gallant warned that "the gates of hell" would open until Hamas agrees to Israel's conditions for ending the war.

He stated: "I have approved the army's plans to defeat Hamas in Gaza, which include the use of firepower, evacuating civilians, and maneuvers."

Gallant wrote on X: "Soon, the gates of hell will be opened on Hamas until they agree to Israel's conditions for ending the war, which essentially involve the release of all hostages and the abandonment of weapons."

He added: "If they do not accept, the city of Gaza will become like Rafah and Beit Hanoun," referring to two cities that were heavily destroyed during Israeli operations in the sector.

Israeli media announced that the security and political cabinet will meet next Tuesday.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has directed the immediate start of negotiations to end the war on terms acceptable to Israel, stating that the war in Gaza will end soon, and that Israel will control Gaza, even if Hamas agrees to a deal, emphasizing that Hamas will not remain in Gaza. He noted that the United States supports Israel in the necessity that Hamas's control over the Gaza Strip should not continue.

He announced that he would approve the army's plans to take control of Gaza and that he simultaneously directed the immediate start of negotiations to end the war on terms acceptable to Israel.

On the ground, the Israeli air force launched a series of airstrikes focused mainly on the northern areas of the sector, resulting in 49 casualties in the past twenty-four hours.
