كشف المفوض العام لوكالة غوث وتشغيل اللاجئين الفلسطينيين (الأونروا) فيليب لازاريني اليوم (الخميس) زيادة في عدد الأطفال الذين يعانون من سوء التغذية في غزة، مؤكداً أنه ارتفع بواقع 6 أمثال منذ مارس الماضي.
وعبر لازاريني عن مخاوفه من موت أطفال يعانون من سوء التغذية في غزة إذا لم تتوفر فوراً المخصصات العاجلة خلال العملية العسكرية الإسرائيلية في مدينة غزة، قائلاً خلال اجتماع لنادي الصحفيين في جنيف: «لدينا سكان ضعفاء للغاية سيتعرضون لعملية عسكرية كبيرة جديدة، وببساطة لن يكون لدى الكثير منهم القوة اللازمة للقيام بنزوح جديد».
وأضاف: «لن ينجو كثير من الأطفال، إنها مجاعة مصطنعة ومفتعلة، إنها متعمدة، استُخدم الغذاء كأداة حرب»، مبيناً أن طفلاً من كل 3 أطفال في مدينة غزة يعاني من سوء التغذية.
وأشار إلى أن عمليات الإنزال الجوي محفوفة بالمخاطر ولا جدوى منها، محذراً من اشتداد الحرب التي قال إنها ستزيد الأمور سوءاً.
وكان مرصد عالمي للجوع في مايو قد قال إن نصف مليون شخص في قطاع غزة يتعرضون للجوع، لكنه امتنع عن استخدام مصطلح المجاعة.
من جهة أخرى، أكدت مصادر طبية في غزة ارتفاع حصيلة القتلى بنيران الاحتلال في مناطق متفرقة في غزة منذ فجر اليوم إلى 27 فلسطينياً، بينهم 8 من طالبي المساعدات، متوقعة ارتفاع عدد الضحايا مع استمرار القصف وصعوبة وصول فرق الإسعاف إلى بعض المواقع المستهدفة.
وأعلنت وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية اليوم أن مستشفيات القطاع استقبلت 70 قتيلاً و356 مصاباً خلال 24 ساعة، مؤكدة ارتفاع عدد ضحايا العدوان الإسرائيلي إلى 62,192 قتيلاً، و157,114 جريحاً منذ 7 أكتوبر 2023.
من جهتها، قالت منظمة الصحة العالمية إن المستشفيات القليلة التي ما زالت تعمل في غزة ترزح تحت ضغط متواصل من تدفق الإصابات الصعبة، مبينة أن «الوضع في غزة كارثي ويجب أن يتوقف فوراً، ونحتاج إلى وقف إطلاق نار عاجل».
وأشارت إلى أن أوامر إخلاء مدينة غزة وتصاعد وتيرة العنف يفرضان ضغطاً لا يطاق على مستشفيات القطاع.
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, revealed today (Thursday) an increase in the number of children suffering from malnutrition in Gaza, confirming that it has risen sixfold since last March.
Lazzarini expressed his fears of children dying from malnutrition in Gaza if urgent allocations are not provided immediately during the Israeli military operation in the city of Gaza, stating during a meeting with the press club in Geneva: "We have extremely vulnerable populations that will be subjected to a new major military operation, and simply, many of them will not have the strength to undertake a new displacement."
He added: "Many children will not survive; it is a manufactured and orchestrated famine, it is intentional, food has been used as a weapon of war," indicating that one in three children in the city of Gaza suffers from malnutrition.
He pointed out that air drops are fraught with risks and are futile, warning that the intensification of the war, which he said would worsen the situation.
A global hunger monitor stated in May that half a million people in the Gaza Strip are facing hunger, but refrained from using the term famine.
On another note, medical sources in Gaza confirmed that the death toll from occupation fire in various areas of Gaza since dawn today has risen to 27 Palestinians, including 8 aid seekers, expecting the number of casualties to rise as the bombardment continues and rescue teams struggle to reach some targeted sites.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced today that hospitals in the sector received 70 dead and 356 injured within 24 hours, confirming that the number of victims of the Israeli aggression has risen to 62,192 dead and 157,114 injured since October 7, 2023.
For its part, the World Health Organization stated that the few hospitals still operating in Gaza are under continuous pressure from the influx of severe injuries, indicating that "the situation in Gaza is catastrophic and must stop immediately, and we need an urgent ceasefire."
It noted that evacuation orders for the city of Gaza and the escalation of violence are placing unbearable pressure on the sector's hospitals.
