أعلنت الهيئة الوطنية لإدارة الكوارث في باكستان، اليوم (الثلاثاء)، مقتل 700 شخص خلال الأمطار الموسمية والفيضانات في جميع أنحاء البلاد منذ 26 يونيو الماضي، مؤكدة أن من بين الضحايا 400 قتيل خلال الأيام الخمسة الأخيرة.
وسجّلت السلطات الباكستانية في إقليم خيبر باختونخوا الجبلي المحاذي لأفغانستان في شمال غرب باكستان وحده 356 وفاة، موضحة أن الأمطار الغزيرة في أنحاء مناطق شمال باكستان والفيضانات تسببت بانزلاقات للتربة وجرف قرى بأكملها.
وذكرت الهيئة الوطنية لإدارة الكوارث، أن هناك مخاوف من تزايد أعداد الضحايا مع استمرار موسم الأمطار حتى منتصف سبتمبر القادم، مبينة إن الطرق تضررت مما صعب على عناصر الإنقاذ الوصول إلى المناطق المتضررة جراء الفيضانات، فضلاً عن تأثر شبكات الهاتف.
وحذّرت السلطات الباكستانية من استمرار الأمطار حتى يوم السبت القادم، مؤكدة أن فيضانات قد تشهدها مدن كبرى في إقليم السند، بما في ذلك مدينة كراتشي العاصمة الاقتصادية للبلاد؛ بسبب ضعف البنى التحتية.
وكان سكان دالوري قد تعرضوا لفيضانات كبيرة تسببت في جرف 15منزلاً أمس (الإثنين) في حين تعرّضت منازل كثيرة أخرى لأضرار جسيمة، وبحسب السلطات فإن 9 أشخاص قتلوا فيما لا يزال البحث جارياً عن المفقودين المقدر عددهم بنحو 20.
وتهطل الأمطار في 15 منطقة بإقليم بلوشستان المجاور لإقليم السند، إذ أُغلق الطريق السريع الرئيسي الذي يربطه بالسند أمام المركبات الثقيلة، ووفقاً لمسؤول الكوارث في المنطقة محمد يونس، هناك أضرار لحقت بـ50 منزلاً في المنطقتين.
The National Disaster Management Authority in Pakistan announced today (Tuesday) that 700 people have died due to the monsoon rains and floods across the country since June 26, confirming that among the victims are 400 fatalities in the last five days.
The Pakistani authorities recorded 356 deaths in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan in northwestern Pakistan alone, explaining that heavy rains in various areas of northern Pakistan and the floods have caused landslides and swept away entire villages.
The National Disaster Management Authority mentioned that there are concerns about an increase in the number of victims as the rainy season continues until mid-September, indicating that roads have been damaged, making it difficult for rescue teams to reach the flood-affected areas, in addition to the impact on telephone networks.
The Pakistani authorities warned of continued rains until next Saturday, confirming that floods may be witnessed in major cities in the Sindh province, including Karachi, the country's economic capital, due to weak infrastructure.
Residents of Dalori experienced significant flooding that swept away 15 houses yesterday (Monday), while many other homes suffered severe damage. According to the authorities, 9 people were killed, and the search is ongoing for the missing, estimated to be around 20.
Rain is falling in 15 areas of the neighboring Balochistan province, where the main highway connecting it to Sindh has been closed to heavy vehicles. According to the disaster official in the region, Muhammad Younis, there has been damage to 50 houses in both areas.
