أغلقت شرطة نيويورك، اليوم (الإثنين)، ساحة «تايمز سكوير» وسط المدينة، وفتحت تحقيقاً بعد إنذار بوجود قنبلة.
وقالت الشرطة إن ضبّاطها استجابوا في الساعة 10:32 من صباح اليوم (بتوقيت شرق الولايات المتحدة) لتقارير عن وجود طرد مشبوه تُرك أمام منشأة تابعة لشرطة نيويورك، مضيفة أنه عند وصول الضباط، لاحظوا وجود طرد مشبوه أمام منشأة تابعة لشرطة نيويورك.
وقال متحدث باسم شرطة نيويورك: «تم استدعاء وحدة الخدمات الطارئة وفريق تفكيك المتفجرات، وقد استجابا بالفعل في الموقع.. والتحقيق لا يزال جارياً».

وكانت الشرطة الأمريكية قد أعلنت أمس مقتل 3 أشخاص وإصابة 8 آخرين بجروح جراء إطلاق نار في نادٍ ليلي مزدحم بمدينة نيويورك، وبحسب مفوضة شرطة نيويورك، جيسيكا تيش، فإن المحققين يعتقدون أن ما يصل إلى أربعة أشخاص أطلقوا النار من أسلحة عدة في نادي «تيست أوف ذا سيتي لاونج» بحي كراون هايتس في بروكلين قبيل الساعة 3:30 صباحاً.
وأشارت إلى أن أطلاق النار ويبدو أنه مرتبط بالعصابات، واصفة إطلاق النار بـ«المروع» وأن الجريمة عمل مأساوي لا معنى له من أعمال العنف.
وقالت تيش إن رجال الشرطة عثروا على 42 غلاف رصاصة عيار تسعة ملليمترات وأسلحة عيار 45 ملليمتر في شارع قريب.
وأشارت إلى أن المصابين في حادثة إطلاق النار، وهم ثمانية رجال وثلاث نساء، يتلقون العلاج في المستشفيات، مبينة إلى أن إصاباتهم غير مهددة للحياة، وأن أعمار الضحايا تراوح بين 19 عاماً و61 عاماً. وأوضحت أن رجلاً 19 عاماً توفي في مكان الحادثة، بينما توفي اثنان عمرهما 35 عاما و27 عاماً بعد نقلهما إلى المستشفى.
New York City police closed Times Square in the heart of the city today (Monday) and opened an investigation following a bomb threat.
The police stated that their officers responded at 10:32 AM today (Eastern Time) to reports of a suspicious package left in front of a New York Police Department facility, adding that upon arrival, the officers noticed a suspicious package in front of the facility.
A spokesperson for the New York Police Department said, "The emergency service unit and bomb disposal team were called and have already responded on-site... the investigation is still ongoing."
Videos circulating on social media showed Times Square, which is usually crowded with tourists, completely empty except for a few police cars.
U.S. police announced yesterday that three people were killed and eight others injured in a shooting at a crowded nightclub in New York City. According to New York Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, investigators believe that up to four individuals fired weapons at the "Taste of the City Lounge" in the Crown Heights neighborhood of Brooklyn shortly before 3:30 AM.
She indicated that the shooting appears to be gang-related, describing it as "horrific" and stating that the crime is a senseless act of violence.
Tisch noted that police found 42 nine-millimeter shell casings and .45 caliber weapons on a nearby street.
She mentioned that the injured in the shooting incident, which includes eight men and three women, are receiving treatment in hospitals, indicating that their injuries are not life-threatening, and that the ages of the victims range from 19 to 61 years old. She clarified that a 19-year-old man died at the scene, while two others aged 35 and 27 died after being transported to the hospital.
