عون لإيران: لاتتدخلوا في شؤوننا

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun revealed in an interview with Al-Arabiya channel, aired today (Sunday), that he informed Iranian National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani, who recently visited Beirut, that relations between the two countries should be based on respect and non-interference in each other's affairs.

Lebanese people are anticipating the arrival of U.S. envoy Tom Barak and Deputy Special Envoy for the Middle East Morgan Ortagus to Beirut on a visit that may carry new ideas regarding the plan to restrict arms to the legitimate authority.

The visit comes amid rising tensions and threats from Hezbollah, particularly the speech by its Secretary-General Naeem Qassem, which provoked angry and condemnatory reactions.

For its part, the Lebanese Army denied the rumors circulating about violating Syrian airspace, confirming that military units are monitoring the situation at the borders and taking necessary measures to secure and protect them.

The Army Command stated in a press release published on its website today (Sunday): "Some media outlets and websites are circulating news that the air forces of the Lebanese Army are violating Syrian airspace to monitor military movements from the Syrian side in border areas, amid threats launched by armed Syrian groups to enter Lebanon and carry out security operations." It affirmed that "there is absolutely no truth to this news, and communication and coordination are ongoing with the Syrian authorities to follow up on any developments." It called for the necessity of exercising responsibility and accuracy in publishing any news of this kind due to the potential repercussions it may cause.

Some Lebanese towns bordering Syria were subjected to shelling from Syrian territory last March, resulting in the deaths of 7 Lebanese citizens and injuries to 52 others, with the Lebanese Army responding to the sources of the fire.
