أكد وزير الخارجية السوري أسعد حسن الشيباني، اليوم (الخميس)، أن ما ورد في تقرير لجنة التحقيق الدولية المعنية بسورية حول أحداث الساحل التي وقعت في مارس الماضي ينسجم مع ما توصلت إليه لجنة تقصي الحقائق الوطنية المستقلة، معرباً عن شكره لرئيس لجنة التحقيق الدولية المعنية، باولو سيرجيو بينهيور، على جهوده في إعداد التقرير الأخير.
ونقلت وكالة الأنباء السورية «سانا» عن بيان للشيباني يشدد فيه على التزام الحكومة بإدماج التوصيات ضمن مسار بناء المؤسسات وترسيخ دولة القانون في سورية الجديدة، مثمناً اعتراف التقرير الأممي بجهود الحكومة في ملاحقة ومحاسبة المتورطين.
وأكد البيان أن الحكومة اتخذت إجراءات جادة في سبيل المساءلة، وتم توقيف عدد من المتورطين بالفعل، مبدياً تقدير الشيباني لإشارة التقرير إلى حجم المعلومات المضللة التي انتشرت عن الأحداث.
وأشار إلى عمل الحكومة من أجل ترسيخ العدالة وضمان المساءلة ومنع تكرار الانتهاكات.
وكانت لجنة التحقيق التابعة للأمم المتحدة بشأن سورية، قد خلصت في التقرير الذي نشرته بوقت سابق اليوم إلى أن الانتهاكات وأعمال العنف التي وقعت في منطقة الساحل خلال شهر مارس الماضي قد ترقى إلى جرائم حرب.
وأكدت اللجنة أن موجة العنف التي شهدتها المنطقة ترقى على الأرجح إلى جرائم حرب، مع تورط عناصر من قوات موالية للنظام السابق (بشار الأسد)، وأخرى تابعة للحكومة السورية، إضافة إلى مدنيين.
وقال التقرير إن أعمال العنف في الساحل شملت القتل والتعذيب والمعاملة اللاإنسانية للجثث، إلى جانب النهب على نطاق واسع وحرق المنازل، ما أدى إلى نزوح عشرات الآلاف من المدنيين، مبينة أن بعض الانتهاكات ارتكبها مقاتلون مدمجون ضمن قوات الأمن في الحكومة السورية، رغم أن هذه القوات سعت في حالات أخرى إلى وقف الانتهاكات وإجلاء المدنيين وحمايتهم.
The Syrian Foreign Minister, Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani, confirmed today (Thursday) that the findings in the report of the international investigation committee concerning Syria regarding the events in the coastal region that occurred last March align with what the independent national fact-finding committee has concluded, expressing his gratitude to the chairman of the international investigation committee, Paulo Sergio Pinheiro, for his efforts in preparing the latest report.
The Syrian news agency "SANA" reported a statement from Al-Shaibani emphasizing the government's commitment to integrating the recommendations within the framework of building institutions and establishing the rule of law in the new Syria, appreciating the acknowledgment in the UN report of the government's efforts to pursue and hold accountable those involved.
The statement confirmed that the government has taken serious measures towards accountability, and several individuals involved have indeed been detained, with Al-Shaibani expressing his appreciation for the report's reference to the extent of misleading information that has circulated about the events.
He pointed to the government's efforts to establish justice, ensure accountability, and prevent the recurrence of violations.
The UN commission of inquiry on Syria concluded in a report published earlier today that the violations and acts of violence that occurred in the coastal region during March may amount to war crimes.
The commission confirmed that the wave of violence witnessed in the region likely amounts to war crimes, involving elements from forces loyal to the former regime (Bashar Al-Assad), as well as others affiliated with the Syrian government, in addition to civilians.
The report stated that the acts of violence in the coastal region included killings, torture, and inhumane treatment of corpses, alongside widespread looting and arson, leading to the displacement of tens of thousands of civilians, noting that some violations were committed by fighters integrated within the security forces of the Syrian government, although these forces sought in other instances to stop the violations and evacuate and protect civilians.
