أعلنت الشرطة البريطانية اليوم (السبت) اعتقال 365 من مؤيدي حركة «فلسطين أكشن» المحظورة، مؤكدة على حسابها في «إكس» أن المعتقلين متهمون بدعم منظمة محظورة.
وذكرت وسائل إعلام بريطانية أن المتظاهرين كانوا يرتدون الكوفية الفلسطينية ويلوحون بالأعلام الفلسطينية ويهتفون «ارفعوا أيديكم عن غزة» ويحملون لافتات مثل «أعارض الإبادة الجماعية، أدعم فلسطين أكشن».
يذكر أن شرطة لندن كانت قد قالت في وقت سابق اليوم إنها اعتقلت ما لا يقل عن 200 شخص خلال مظاهرة مؤيدة لمجموعة «فلسطين أكشن» التي حظرتها الحكومة البريطانية الشهر الماضي بموجب قوانين مكافحة الإرهاب.
وكتبت الشرطة على منصة «إكس»: اعتقلنا 150 شخصاً في ساحة البرلمان، ما زال هناك أشخاص يحملون لافتات مؤيدة لمجموعة فلسطين أكشن، وعناصرنا يواصلون التقدم بين الحشود وتوقيف مزيد من الأشخاص، ليرتفع العدد بعدها بدقائق إلى 200 معتقل، ثم أعلنت لاحقاً اعتقال 365 متظاهراً.
وأوضحت الشرطة أن قواتها نفذت الاعتقالات بعد أن تجمعت حشود كانت تلوح بلافتات تعبر عن دعمها لمجموعة «فلسطين أكشن» في ساحة البرلمان.
وقدرت الشرطة عدد المتظاهرين ما بين 500 و600 شخص، مبينة أن عدداً كبيراً من الموجودين في الساحة من المتفرجين ولم يشاركوا في المظاهرة، وأنها ستوقف كل من يرفع لافتة تعبر عن التأييد لمنظمة فلسطين أكشن.
بالمقابل، طالبت المجموعة الشرطة بالتدخل في مساعيها لتنظيم تحرك معارض للحظر، مشيرة إلى أن أعداداً لا مثيل لها جاءت للمشاركة في الاحتجاج، وأنهم يجازفون بالمشاركة رغم احتمال توقيفهم وربما سجنهم من أجل الدفاع عن الحريات العريقة في بريطانيا.
وكان مشرّعون بريطانيون قرروا في يوليو الماضي حظر جماعة «فلسطين أكشن» بموجب تشريع مناهض للإرهاب، بعد أن اقتحم بعض أعضاء الجماعة قاعدة لسلاح الجو الملكي وألحقوا أضراراً بطائرات خلال احتجاجات مؤيدة لفلسطين، وخربوا طائرتين تستخدمان في التزود بالوقود من خلال رش الطائرتين بطلاء أحمر، وقُدّرت الأضرار بنحو 7 ملايين جنيه إسترليني (9,3 مليون دولار).
The British police announced today (Saturday) the arrest of 365 supporters of the banned "Palestine Action" movement, confirming on their account on "X" that the detainees are accused of supporting a prohibited organization.
British media reported that the demonstrators were wearing Palestinian keffiyehs, waving Palestinian flags, chanting "Hands off Gaza," and holding signs such as "I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action."
It is worth mentioning that the London police had stated earlier today that they arrested at least 200 people during a demonstration supporting the "Palestine Action" group, which was banned by the British government last month under anti-terrorism laws.
The police wrote on the "X" platform: "We have arrested 150 people in Parliament Square, and there are still people holding signs in support of the Palestine Action group. Our officers continue to move through the crowds and detain more individuals," with the number rising to 200 detainees just minutes later, and they later announced the arrest of 365 protesters.
The police clarified that their forces carried out the arrests after crowds gathered waving signs expressing their support for the "Palestine Action" group in Parliament Square.
The police estimated the number of demonstrators to be between 500 and 600 people, indicating that a large number of those present in the square were spectators and did not participate in the demonstration, and that they would stop anyone holding a sign expressing support for the Palestine Action organization.
In contrast, the group called on the police to intervene in their efforts to organize a movement opposing the ban, noting that unprecedented numbers came to participate in the protest, and that they are risking participation despite the possibility of being arrested and possibly imprisoned in defense of the long-standing freedoms in Britain.
British lawmakers decided last July to ban the "Palestine Action" group under anti-terrorism legislation after some members of the group stormed a Royal Air Force base and caused damage to aircraft during pro-Palestine protests, vandalizing two planes used for refueling by spraying them with red paint, with damages estimated at around £7 million ($9.3 million).
