زيلينسكي لواشنطن: لن تتوقف الحرب بدون الضغط على الكرملين

Simultaneously with the arrival of U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff in the capital Moscow, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged Washington to intensify pressure on Russia to stop the Russian-Ukrainian war that began in 2022.

He stated in a post on his social media accounts today (Wednesday): "It is very important for everyone from the United States to Europe and the G7 to unite against Russia."

Zelensky considered that the Kremlin would not genuinely seek to stop the war until it feels sufficient pressure. The Ukrainian president accused Russia of having its forces bomb the Odesa region in the south of the country to undermine preparations for the heating season.

The U.S. envoy arrived earlier today in Moscow, where he was welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin's envoy Kirill Dmitriev, just days before the deadline set by U.S. President Donald Trump for his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to reach a ceasefire in the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Last Sunday, Trump announced his intention to impose sanctions if the deadline (on Friday) passes without a resolution. The sanctions aim to target countries that purchase Russian oil and gas, in order to restrict Moscow's ability to finance its war in neighboring Ukraine.

On Monday, the U.S. president revealed his intention to raise tariffs on India due to its continued trade with Moscow, without specifying the new tariff rates.
