أعلن مدير عام مكتب وزارة الصحة بمدينة زنجبار مركز محافظة أبين عبدالقادر باجميل اليوم (الأحد) نجاح الفرق الميدانية في انتشال جثامين 54 مهاجرا أفريقيا من سواحل مدينة زنجبار، مؤكداً أن السلطات الصحية تجري حاليا ترتيبات لدفن الجثامين في منطقة قريبة من زنجبار.
وأوضح باجميل أن الفرق الميدانية تواصل عملها في ظل فقدان عشرات المهاجرين، وذلك عقب غرق قارب يقل نحو 150 مهاجرا أفريقيا الليلة الماضية في بحر العرب بسبب الرياح العاتية قبالة مدينة شقرة بمحافظة أبين.
وتمكنت السلطات اليمنية من إنقاذ 12 ناجياً ونقلهم إلى مستشفى شقرة العام لتلقي الإسعافات، فيما تواصل عملها لانتشال جثث المهاجرين غير النظاميين من الجنسية الإثيوبية (الأورومو) الذين لقوا حتفهم غرقاً في البحر قبالة سواحل محافظة أبين أثناء محاولتهم التسلل إلى الأراضي اليمنية عبر قوارب تهريب قادمة من القرن الأفريقي.
وأعلنت السلطات الأمنية اليمنية أنها نقلت الجثث إلى المستشفيات في مدينة زنجبار، وهناك عدد من هذه الحالات تم العثور عليها على شواطئ متفرقة، ما يرجح وجود أعداد أخرى لا تزال مفقودة في عرض البحر.
وقالت المنظمة الدولية للهجرة أنها سجلت وصول أكثر من 37 ألف مهاجر إلى اليمن خلال الربع الأول من العام الحالي، مقارنة مع أكثر من 60 ألفاً في 2024 بأكمله، رغم ازدياد حالات غرق القوارب خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية.

The General Director of the Ministry of Health Office in the city of Zanzibar, located in the Abyan Governorate, Abdul Qadir Bajamil, announced today (Sunday) the successful retrieval of the bodies of 54 African migrants from the shores of the city of Zanzibar, confirming that health authorities are currently making arrangements to bury the bodies in an area close to Zanzibar.
Bajamil explained that the field teams continue their work amid the loss of dozens of migrants, following the sinking of a boat carrying about 150 African migrants last night in the Arabian Sea due to strong winds off the coast of Shuqra in Abyan Governorate.
The Yemeni authorities managed to rescue 12 survivors and transport them to Shuqra General Hospital for treatment, while they continue their efforts to retrieve the bodies of irregular migrants of Ethiopian nationality (Oromo) who drowned in the sea off the coast of Abyan while attempting to infiltrate Yemeni territory via smuggling boats coming from the Horn of Africa.
The Yemeni security authorities announced that they had transferred the bodies to hospitals in the city of Zanzibar, with several of these cases found on scattered beaches, suggesting that there are likely more individuals still missing at sea.
The International Organization for Migration stated that it recorded the arrival of more than 37,000 migrants to Yemen during the first quarter of this year, compared to more than 60,000 in all of 2024, despite the increase in boat sinking incidents over the past five years.
