At least 78 Palestinians were killed across the Gaza Strip today (Tuesday), including a pregnant woman who gave birth to her child after her death, but the child also died, according to local health officials.

Palestinian sources reported that dozens were killed while trying to obtain food despite Israel announcing a relaxation of restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid.

In light of increasing international pressure on the occupying authority due to the worsening hunger crisis in Gaza, Israel announced over the weekend that the army would halt operations in Gaza City, Deir al-Balah, and the Mawasi for 10 hours daily, and safe routes for delivering aid would be established. Air drops of aid by the international community were also resumed.

For their part, relief agencies confirmed that these measures are insufficient to address the growing famine in the sector.

Martin Benner, a spokesperson for the United Nations World Food Programme, stated that all 55 trucks that entered on Sunday were unloaded by crowds before reaching their destination. Another UN official announced that the situation on the ground had not changed, and alternative routes had not been opened. Israel confirmed that it would continue its military operations in parallel with these new humanitarian measures.
