The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi called on his American counterpart Donald Trump to make every effort to stop the Gaza war and allow aid to enter, affirming that the time has come to end this war.
In a speech about the situation in Gaza today (Monday), in response to accusations directed at Egypt of obstructing the entry of humanitarian aid, Sisi confirmed that Egypt cannot prevent or obstruct the entry of aid due to the moral and national responsibility that the Egyptian state bears towards the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian brothers. He stated that Egypt has a large number of aid trucks ready to cross into Gaza and are waiting for the Rafah crossing to be opened from the Palestinian side, which is controlled by Israel.
Sisi added that the operation of the Rafah crossing is not only related to the Egyptian side of the crossing, but depends on the opening of the crossing from the other side, which is controlled by Israel. He spoke about his country's efforts in this regard, emphasizing that they focus on three axes: stopping the war, allowing aid in, and releasing detainees.
The Egyptian president reported that these axes are being addressed in negotiations with both the Israeli and Palestinian sides, with Qatari and American participation in mediation efforts, noting that these negotiation efforts have faced obstacles from time to time. He affirmed his country's commitment to bringing in the largest amount of aid to the Gaza Strip in recent months.
Sisi described the humanitarian situation inside the Gaza Strip as "tragic," confirming that living conditions in the sector have become "unbearable," and called for the urgent need to allow in as much food and medical aid as possible to alleviate the crisis and suffering within the sector.
Sisi stressed that the Egyptian state cannot play a negative role towards the Palestinian brothers as has been promoted recently, adding: "We have a respectable, honorable, sincere, and trustworthy role that does not change and will not change towards our brothers, and we are keen to find a final solution to the Palestinian cause that ends the war."
He called on the international community to intensify efforts to stop the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, allow aid in, and end the crisis.
For the second consecutive day, the Egyptian Red Crescent announced the launch of the second convoy of "Zad Al-Izza... from Egypt to Gaza," which includes 1,500 tons of humanitarian aid to Gaza. This comes as part of efforts to provide food support to the people of the sector.
The Egyptian Red Crescent announced that the volume of relief aid that has been brought into Gaza since the beginning of the crisis has exceeded 35,000 trucks, carrying more than 500,000 tons of relief materials, which varied between food, water, medical supplies, and medicines, in addition to shelter materials, personal hygiene supplies, milk, baby diapers, as well as ambulances and fuel trucks.
