ذكر وزير الخارجية البريطاني ديفيد لامي اليوم (الجمعة) «أن الوضع المتدهور في غزة لا يمكن الدفاع عنه»، مكررًا الدعوات لوقف إطلاق النار.
وقال لامي في مؤتمر صحفي مشترك مع وزير الدفاع الأسترالي في سيدني: «مشهد الأطفال وهم يطلبون المساعدة ويفقدون أرواحهم أثار الذعر في أنحاء كثيرة من العالم، ولهذا أكرر دعوتي اليوم لوقف إطلاق النار».
وأضاف «الوضع المتدهور الذي شهدناه في غزة خلال الأسابيع القليلة الماضية أمر لا يمكن الدفاع عنه».
من جهته، يعتزم رئيس الوزراء البريطاني كير ستارمر، إجراء محادثات طارئة حول غزة، حيث قال: «إنه سيعقد محادثات طارئة مع فرنسا وألمانيا حول غزة».
وأدان ستارمر «المعاناة والجوع» هناك، موكدًا بأنهما «لا يمكن وصفهما ولا الدفاع عنهما»، بحسب وكالة «بي إيه ميديا» البريطانية.
وأوضح أن الوضع كان «خطيرًا» لبعض الوقت، لكنه «وصل إلى مستويات جديدة من التدهور».
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated today (Friday) that "the deteriorating situation in Gaza is indefensible," reiterating calls for a ceasefire.
Lammy said at a joint press conference with the Australian Defense Minister in Sydney: "The sight of children pleading for help and losing their lives has caused panic across many parts of the world, which is why I repeat my call today for a ceasefire."
He added, "The deteriorating situation we have witnessed in Gaza over the past few weeks is something that cannot be defended."
For his part, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer intends to hold emergency talks on Gaza, stating: "He will hold emergency talks with France and Germany regarding Gaza."
Starmer condemned the "suffering and hunger" there, emphasizing that they "are beyond description and indefensible," according to the British news agency "PA Media."
He explained that the situation has been "dangerous" for some time, but it has "reached new levels of deterioration."
