The Syrian Ministry of Interior denied the circulating news about the execution of mass executions against prisoners and detainees from the previous regime or those affiliated with it, confirming that these allegations are completely unfounded.
The ministry's spokesperson, Nour al-Din al-Baba, stated in remarks today (Wednesday) that the aim of promoting such rumors is to tarnish the image of the Syrian state and incite discord that threatens civil peace, according to what was reported by the Syrian official news agency (SANA).
Al-Baba emphasized the Syrian government's commitment to implementing the internationally monitored ceasefire agreement in Sweida, despite violations by the other party, as he expressed. He announced that the exit of families from the governorate is temporary due to humanitarian and security conditions, and that their return will be soon after securing the governorate.
The Syrian Interior Ministry condemned the circulated videos showing field executions carried out by unidentified individuals in the city of Sweida, confirming that these acts represent serious crimes punishable by law with the harshest penalties. An urgent investigation has been announced by the relevant authorities to identify those involved in these crimes and to pursue and arrest them.
Meanwhile, the Media and Communication Department in the Ministry of Defense confirmed that the Ministry of Defense has been following reports of shocking and serious violations committed by an unknown group wearing military uniforms in the city of Sweida.
It stated via its channel on Telegram: "Based on the strict directives issued by the ministry prohibiting any formations not affiliated with it from entering the military operations area, a committee has been formed to monitor the violations that occurred in the city of Sweida and to investigate the affiliation and background of the individuals committing them."
It emphasized that the maximum penalties will be imposed on individuals committing violations in the city of Sweida once they are identified, and announced that the Minister of Defense will directly follow up on the investigations of the military violations committee.
It quoted the Minister of Defense, Major General Marhaf Abu Qasra, as saying: There will be no tolerance for any of the perpetrators of violations, even if they are affiliated with the Ministry of Defense.
