أكد الرئيس اللبناني العماد جوزيف عون اليوم (الإثنين)، أن «وحدة الأراضي اللبنانية ثابتة وطنية كرسها الدستور ويحميها الجيش وإرادة اللبنانيين الذين قدموا التضحيات على مر السنين للمحافظة عليها». وقال عون: «لقد أقسمت اليمين بعد انتخابي رئيساً للجمهورية على المحافظة على استقلال الوطن وسلامة أراضيه، ويخطئ من يظن أن من أقسم مرتين على الدفاع عن لبنان الواحد الموحد يمكن أن ينكث بقسمه لأي سبب كان أو يقبل بأي طروحات مماثلة».
وأشار الرئيس عون إلى أن «قرار حصرية السلاح بيد الدولة اتُخذ، استناداً إلى اتفاق الطائف، وهذا الأمر إلى جانب قرار السلم والحرب بيد الدولة، هما من المكونات الأساسية لأي دولة ومن المبادئ الأساسية»، موضحاً أن «التحديات كبيرة حولنا، كما أن الفرص كبيرة، وعلينا كلبنانيين من خلال قدرة الإبداع التي لدينا وإرادتنا الصلبة، أن نعرف كيف نستغل الفرص لمصلحة لبنان».
وكشف عون هدف زياراته للعديد من الدول، قائلاً: «إعادة مد الجسور بين لبنان والعالم». وجاء حديث الرئيس عون خلال لقاءين اقتصاديين، إذ التقى اليوم وفد مجلس نقابة المؤسسات السياحية البحرية في لبنان، ووفد مجلس إدارة مصرف الإسكان.
The Lebanese President, General Joseph Aoun, confirmed today (Monday) that "the unity of Lebanese territory is a national principle enshrined in the constitution, protected by the army and the will of the Lebanese who have made sacrifices over the years to maintain it." Aoun stated: "I took an oath after my election as President of the Republic to preserve the independence of the nation and the integrity of its territory. Those who think that someone who has sworn twice to defend a unified Lebanon can break their oath for any reason or accept similar propositions are mistaken."
President Aoun pointed out that "the decision to keep the exclusive right to arms in the hands of the state was made based on the Taif Agreement, and this, along with the decision of war and peace being in the hands of the state, are fundamental components of any state and basic principles." He clarified that "the challenges around us are great, as are the opportunities, and we, as Lebanese, must, through our creative capabilities and strong will, know how to exploit these opportunities for the benefit of Lebanon."
Aoun revealed the purpose of his visits to several countries, saying: "To rebuild bridges between Lebanon and the world." This statement came during two economic meetings, where he met today with a delegation from the Lebanese Marine Tourism Institutions Syndicate and a delegation from the Housing Bank's Board of Directors.
