أعلن الرئيس الأوكراني فولوديمير زيلينسكي أن روسيا شنت الليلة الماضية هجوماً واسعاً على بلاده، أطلقت خلاله 597 طائرة مسيّرة و26 صاروخاً بعيد المدى، داعياً اليوم (السبت) إلى فرض عقوبات على موسكو التي كثّفت ضرباتها في الأسابيع الأخيرة.
وأعلن سلاح الجو الأوكراني أنه أسقط 319 مسيّرة من طراز «شاهد» و25 صاروخاً، مؤكداً إصابة 5 مواقع بصاروخ واحد ونحو 20 مسيّرة، من دون تقديم تفاصيل إضافية.
ودعا زيلينسكي حلفاءه الغربيين إلى تقديم أكثر من مجرد إشارات لوقف الحرب التي تشنها روسيا على بلاده. واعتبر أن وتيرة الضربات الجوية الروسية تتطلب اتخاذ قرارات سريعة، ويمكن كبحها الآن عبر فرض عقوبات. وشدد على ضرورة معاقبة من يساعدون روسيا في إنتاج الطائرات المسيرة.
وأفصح زيلينسكي أنه تلقى وعوداً بشحنات أسلحة جديدة من الولايات المتحدة وحلفائها الأوروبيين، وقال في رسالة مصورة بتقنية الفيديو «بحسب جميع التقارير، تم استئناف شحنات الأسلحة». ومن المقرر عقد محادثات بشأن الدعم العسكري الأسبوع القادم مع المبعوث الأمريكي الخاص كيث كيلوغ وآخرين.
وأضاف زيلينسكي: «نحن أيضاً بصدد الإعداد لشحنات أسلحة أوروبية جديدة»، مضيفاً أنه يتوقع أيضاً «خطوات قوية» بشأن فرض عقوبات جديدة على روسيا.
من جانبه، أعلن وزير الخارجية الأوكراني أندريه سيبيها تعرض مدن تشيرنيفتسي ولفيف ولوتسك الغربية لأضرار كبيرة جراء القصف الروسي، لافتاً إلى أن روسيا تواصل تصعيد إرهابها بإطلاق مئات المسيرات والصواريخ متسببة بمقتل وإصابة مدنيين.
وكشفت صحيفة كييف إندبندنت أن الانفجارات دوت في مدينتي لفيف قرب الحدود مع بولندا وتشيرنيفتسي على الحدود مع رومانيا جراء الهجوم الروسي، في حين أفادت شبكة «سوسبيلن» العامة بوقوع انفجار في مدينة لوتسك شمال غرب البلاد.
وقال عمدة لفيف أندري سادوفي في منشور على تليغرام إن حريقاً اندلع في أحد المباني في لفيف بعد الهجمات.
ونشرت بولندا، الجارة الغربية لأوكرانيا، طائرات مقاتلة لحماية مجالها الجوي أثناء الضربات، حسبما قالت القوات المسلحة البولندية على منصة «إكس».
وأعلنت هيئة الأركان الأوكرانية وقوع 214 اشتباكاً بين القوات الروسية والأوكرانية على الجبهات شرقي وجنوبي أوكرانيا، مشيرة إلى أن القوات الروسية تكثف هجماتها، وتحاول تطويق مدينة «باكروفسك» الإستراتيجية، في مقاطعة دونيتسك، مؤكدة تنفيذ قواتها 8 ضربات على مواقع روسية، منها نقطتا قيادة طائرات مسيرة.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia launched a wide-ranging attack on his country last night, during which it fired 597 drones and 26 long-range missiles, calling today (Saturday) for sanctions to be imposed on Moscow, which has intensified its strikes in recent weeks.
The Ukrainian Air Force announced that it shot down 319 "Shahed" drones and 25 missiles, confirming that 5 sites were hit by one missile and about 20 drones, without providing additional details.
Zelensky urged his Western allies to provide more than just signals to stop the war that Russia is waging against his country. He considered that the pace of Russian airstrikes requires swift decisions, and that it can be curbed now through the imposition of sanctions. He emphasized the necessity of punishing those who assist Russia in producing drones.
Zelensky revealed that he received promises of new weapon shipments from the United States and its European allies, stating in a video message, "According to all reports, arms shipments have resumed." Talks regarding military support are scheduled for next week with U.S. Special Envoy Keith Kellogg and others.
Zelensky added, "We are also preparing for new European weapon shipments," adding that he also expects "strong steps" regarding the imposition of new sanctions on Russia.
For his part, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha announced that the cities of Chernivtsi, Lviv, and Lutsk in the west suffered significant damage due to Russian shelling, noting that Russia continues to escalate its terror by launching hundreds of drones and missiles, resulting in civilian casualties.
The Kyiv Independent reported that explosions were heard in the cities of Lviv near the border with Poland and Chernivtsi on the border with Romania due to the Russian attack, while the public network "Suspilne" reported an explosion in the city of Lutsk in the northwest of the country.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi posted on Telegram that a fire broke out in one of the buildings in Lviv after the attacks.
Poland, Ukraine's western neighbor, deployed fighter jets to protect its airspace during the strikes, according to the Polish Armed Forces on the platform "X."
The Ukrainian General Staff announced that there were 214 clashes between Russian and Ukrainian forces on the eastern and southern fronts of Ukraine, noting that Russian forces are intensifying their attacks and are trying to encircle the strategic city of "Bakhmut" in the Donetsk region, confirming that its forces carried out 8 strikes on Russian positions, including two command points for drones.
