أعلنت إدارة الطيران الفيدرالية الأمريكية اليوم (الخميس) توقف الرحلات المغادرة من المطارات الدولية في مونتريال وأوتاوا في كندا على خلفية ورود تهديد بوجود قنبلة.
وأوضحت الإدارة أنه تم إخلاء جميع أبراج مراقبة الحركة الجوية بسبب تهديدات بوجود قنابل، وتوقفت الرحلات في مونتريال وأوتاوا عند الساعة 8:45 صباحاً بالتوقيت المحلي، فيما أكدت الشرطة عدم العثور على أي متفجرات بعد تفتيش شامل.
يذكر أن هذه الحادثة ليست الأولى حول العالم هذا العام، خصوصاً أن السلطات الأمريكية قد أعلنت العام الماضي أنها عثرت على مذكرة تهديد بوجود قنبلة على متن طائرة تابعة لشركة «أليجيانت إيرويز» في مطار سان بطرسبرغ-كليرووتر بولاية فلوريدا، ما دفع إلى إخلاء الطائرة وإغلاق المطار مؤقتاً.
وكانت شركة الطيران الإيرلندية قد ألغت رحلاتها يومي الخميس والجمعة، ما أثر على المسافرين المتوجهين إلى وجهات صيفية عبر العالم، وشمل الإلغاء رحلات من وإلى فرنسا، إضافة إلى الرحلات التي تعبر المجال الجوي الفرنسي متجهة إلى دول مثل المملكة المتحدة، اليونان، إسبانيا، وإيرلندا.
وأُلغيت 15 رحلة من وإلى مطار لندن ستانستد وحده، كما طالت الإلغاءات رحلات في مطارات أخرى في المملكة المتحدة، مثل مانشستر وإدنبرة.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced today (Thursday) the suspension of outgoing flights from international airports in Montreal and Ottawa, Canada, following a bomb threat.
The administration clarified that all air traffic control towers were evacuated due to bomb threats, and flights in Montreal and Ottawa were halted at 8:45 AM local time, while police confirmed that no explosives were found after a thorough search.
It is worth noting that this incident is not the first of its kind worldwide this year, especially since U.S. authorities announced last year that they found a bomb threat note on a flight operated by Allegiant Air at St. Petersburg-Clearwater Airport in Florida, which led to the evacuation of the plane and the temporary closure of the airport.
The Irish airline had canceled its flights on Thursday and Friday, affecting travelers heading to summer destinations around the world, with cancellations including flights to and from France, as well as flights crossing French airspace heading to countries such as the United Kingdom, Greece, Spain, and Ireland.
Fifteen flights to and from London Stansted Airport alone were canceled, and the cancellations also affected flights at other airports in the UK, such as Manchester and Edinburgh.
