تعرّض مطار كركوك شمالي العراق لهجوم صاروخي مساء أمس، أسفر عن أضرار جسيمة في البنية التحتية للمطار، دون معرفة الجهة المسؤولة عن الاستهداف.
وسقطت ثلاثة صواريخ «كاتيوشا» على الأقل في محيط مطار كركوك، الذي يُعد بوابة إستراتيجية في محافظة كركوك، واستهدف القصف المنطقة الواقعة بين الجزءين العسكري والمدني من المطار، ما أدى إلى خروج المدرج عن الخدمة واندلاع حرائق في الموقع.
وسقط أحد الصواريخ على سطح منزل في حي العروبة القريب من المطار، ما أدى إلى أضرار مادية كبيرة وحالة هلع بين السكان، في حين هرعت القوات الأمنية العراقية إلى موقعَي الهجوم – المطار وحي العروبة – لفرض طوق أمني والبدء بالتحقيق.
مصادر أمنية أكدت وقوع إصابتين في صفوف عناصر الأمن، إلى جانب أضرار مادية جسيمة، في حين أُفيد بأن أحد الصواريخ لم ينفجر وتم رصده من قبل الأهالي في حي العروبة.
وأكد شهود عيان أن سكان الحي سمعوا دوي انفجارات عنيفة، ما دفعهم إلى مغادرة منازلهم خوفاً من وقوع هجمات إضافية، بينما لا تزال التحقيقات جارية لتحديد الجهة المنفذة للهجوم.
The Kirkuk airport in northern Iraq was subjected to a rocket attack last night, resulting in significant damage to the airport's infrastructure, with no information on the party responsible for the targeting.
At least three "Katyusha" rockets fell in the vicinity of Kirkuk airport, which is considered a strategic gateway in Kirkuk province. The shelling targeted the area between the military and civilian parts of the airport, leading to the runway being rendered inoperable and fires breaking out at the site.
One of the rockets landed on the roof of a house in the Al-Arouba neighborhood near the airport, causing substantial material damage and panic among the residents, while Iraqi security forces rushed to the attack sites – the airport and Al-Arouba neighborhood – to impose a security cordon and begin an investigation.
Security sources confirmed that there were two injuries among security personnel, in addition to significant material damage, while it was reported that one of the rockets did not explode and was spotted by residents in the Al-Arouba neighborhood.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that residents of the neighborhood heard loud explosions, prompting them to leave their homes for fear of additional attacks, while investigations are still ongoing to determine the party responsible for the attack.
