مقتل شخصين في كمين استهدف إطفائيين خلال إخماد حريق بـ«أيداهو»

Two people were killed in a shooting at firefighters while they were extinguishing a fire in the U.S. state of Idaho.

Idaho Governor Brad Little stated that several firefighters were attacked while trying to put out a fire in the northern part of the state, urging residents to stay away from the area.

Little said in a post on the platform "X": "This is a heinous direct assault on our brave firefighters. I ask all Idahoans to pray for them and their families as we await more information."

He added: "The situation is still developing; please stay away from the area to allow law enforcement and firefighters to do their jobs."

Local news reports, citing police scanners, indicated that several firefighters were shot.

The Idaho police chief confirmed the deaths of two individuals and injuries to others.

The Kootenai County Emergency Management Office issued a warning for citizens in nearby areas to shelter in place.

A Kootenai police officer told ABC News that the firefighters were dealing with a small fire that broke out in the Canfield Mountain Natural Area east of the city when they came under gunfire from a person in a nearby wooded area.

Howard added that officials are investigating whether the fire was set intentionally.
