In response to the American targeting of nuclear sites in Iran, Tehran vowed today (Monday) to Washington that there would be severe consequences, while the Israeli Defense Minister announced an unprecedented force attack on the heart of the Iranian capital.

The spokesperson for the Iranian armed forces, Ibrahim Zolfaghari, stated that the American targeting would expand the legitimate targets of the Iranian armed forces and pave the way for the escalation of war in the region, threatening in a video broadcast by state television that fighters "will inflict upon you severe and unpredictable consequences through powerful and targeted operations."

He addressed the American president in English at the end of his recorded statement, saying: "Mr. Trump, this war may start, but we will end it."

For his part, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the air force was striking "with unprecedented force" targets in the heart of the Iranian capital, Tehran. Katz stated in a statement: "The army is striking with unprecedented force at Iranian targets in the heart of Tehran," including the Basij headquarters, Evin Prison, and the internal security headquarters of the Revolutionary Guard. The Israeli army reported that it bombed 6 airports in central, eastern, and western Iran, destroyed 15 Iranian combat aircraft and helicopters with drones, and targeted access routes to the Fordow uranium enrichment site. It stated that it carried out more than 100 airstrikes on targets in Tehran over the past two hours.

Israel carried out a new attack today on the Fordow facility, the main site in Iran for enriching uranium to 60%, fortified underground at a depth of about 90 meters, according to the Iranian news agency "Tasnim," about 24 hours after it was subjected to American strikes with bunker-busting bombs early Sunday. The "Tasnim" agency quoted the spokesperson for the Crisis Management Authority in Qom province as saying: "They attacked the Fordow nuclear site again."

The Israeli army radio confirmed that the army attacked the road leading to the Fordow nuclear facility. Images circulating showed a Revolutionary Guard base in Tehran being attacked by Israel.

Israeli media reported the targeting of Evin Prison in Tehran and dozens of Revolutionary Guard headquarters. Iranian media confirmed that Israel bombed Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran.
