كشف مسؤولون أمريكيون اليوم (الأحد) عن عدم تدمير الاستهداف الأمريكي لموقع فوردو النووي الإيراني تماماً لكنه ألحق أضراراً بالغة به، بحسب صحيفة «نيويورك تايمز»، مؤكدين أن التقييم الأولي للجيش يفيد بأن الموقع النووي المحصن في فوردو تعرض لأضرار جسيمة جراء الاستهداف الأمريكي، لكنه لم يُدمر بالكامل.
وقال المسؤولون: يبدو أن إيران نقلت معدات -من بينها اليورانيوم- من الموقع قبل الهجوم، فيما قال مسؤول أمريكي رفيع إن الاستهداف لم يُدمر المنشأة المحصنة بالكامل، لكنه ألحق بها أضراراً بالغة وأخرجها فعلياً من الخدمة.
وأشار المسؤول إلى أن حتى 12 قنبلة خارقة للتحصينات لا تكفي لتدمير الموقع بالكامل، فيما قال رئيس لجنة الأمن في الكنيست الإسرائيلي إنه تم تدمير مفاعل نطنز بالكامل.
من جهة أخرى، قال وزير الخارجية الألماني يوهان فاديبول: إيران تجاوزت الخطوط الحمراء في ما يتعلق ببرنامجها النووي، وطلب منها الانخراط في المفاوضات، موضحاً لهيئة الإذاعة والتلفزيون الألمانية أن منع إيران من امتلاك أسلحة نووية أمر مشروع.
وأشار إلى أن الدول الأوروبية مستعدة للمساعدة في أي محادثات محتملة بين إيران والولايات المتحدة.
بالمقابل، نقلت وسائل إعلام إيرانية عن وزير الخارجية عباس عراقجي قوله إن باب الدبلوماسية قد أُغلق نهائياً، مضيفاً: «دعوات عودة إيران إلى الدبلوماسية لا معنى لها الآن».
فيما أعلن مستشار للمرشد الإيراني علي خامنئي أن اليورانيوم الإيراني المخصب لا يزال موجوداً رغم الهجمات الأمريكية، في حين اتهمت السلطات الإيرانية إسرائيل بضرب أكثر من 200 قطاع في طهران منذ بداية الهجوم.
American officials revealed today (Sunday) that the U.S. targeting of the Iranian Fordow nuclear site did not completely destroy it, but it caused significant damage, according to the New York Times. They confirmed that the initial assessment by the military indicates that the fortified nuclear site at Fordow suffered severe damage due to the U.S. targeting, but it was not completely destroyed.
The officials stated that it appears Iran moved equipment—including uranium—from the site before the attack, while a senior U.S. official said that the targeting did not fully destroy the fortified facility, but it caused severe damage and effectively put it out of service.
The official noted that even 12 bunker-buster bombs are not enough to completely destroy the site, while the head of the security committee in the Israeli Knesset stated that the Natanz reactor was completely destroyed.
On another note, German Foreign Minister Johan Wadephol stated: Iran has crossed red lines regarding its nuclear program, and it has been asked to engage in negotiations, explaining to the German Broadcasting and Television Authority that preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons is legitimate.
He indicated that European countries are ready to assist in any potential talks between Iran and the United States.
In contrast, Iranian media reported Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as saying that the door to diplomacy has been completely closed, adding: "Calls for Iran to return to diplomacy are meaningless now."
Meanwhile, an advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei announced that enriched Iranian uranium still exists despite the U.S. attacks, while Iranian authorities accused Israel of striking more than 200 sectors in Tehran since the beginning of the attack.
