كشفت صحيفة «واشنطن بوست» أن وزير الخزانة الأمريكي سكوت بيسنت، ورجل الأعمال الملياردير إيلون ماسك، تبادلا اللكمات في البيت الأبيض في شهر أبريل الماضي، بحسب ما نقلت عن ستيف بانون المستشار السياسي السابق للرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب.
وفي منتصف أبريل، أدت الخلافات حول تفضيلاتهما لمفوض دائرة الإيرادات الداخلية بالإنابة إلى تبادل اللكمات بين ماسك وبيسنت. وبعد أن غادرا المكتب البيضاوي، حيث دعم ترمب اختيار بيسنت، بدأ الرجلان في تبادل الإهانات، إذ دفع ماسك كتفه في قفص بيسنت الصدري، ورد بيسنت بضربه ووصفه بأنه «محتال».
ووفقاً لبانون، تدخل أشخاص عدة لفض الشجار. وفي وقت لاحق، علق ترمب على الحادثة، قائلاً إن «هذا كثير جداً».
ووفقاً للصحيفة، فإن تكتيكات ماسك الوحشية، ونقص الحنكة السياسية، والخلافات الأيديولوجية مع قاعدة «اجعل أمريكا عظيمة مرة أخرى»، تسببت في تدهور علاقته بكبار مسؤولي الإدارة، وفي النهاية مع الرئيس.

وأفادت الصحيفة بأنه على الرغم من التوتر، فقد انحاز ترمب ونائب رئيس موظفيه ستيفن ميلر، إلى جانب ماسك.
يذكر أنه في 2 أبريل الماضي، عندما طرح الرئيس ترمب الرسوم الجمركية التي تهدف إلى إعادة تشكيل الاقتصاد العالمي، لجأ ماسك إلى منصة «إكس» للتعبير عن استيائه من الرسوم، بينما في الخاص، قدم ماسك نداءات شخصية لترمب لعكس الرسوم الجمركية. ولم يمتثل ترمب، ولم يتراجع إلا بعد أيام من انخفاض حاد في أسواق السندات.
The Washington Post revealed that U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Pisent and billionaire businessman Elon Musk exchanged punches in the White House last April, according to former political advisor to President Donald Trump, Steve Bannon.
In mid-April, disagreements over their preferences for the acting IRS commissioner led to the exchange of punches between Musk and Pisent. After leaving the Oval Office, where Trump supported Pisent's selection, the two men began trading insults, with Musk shoving Pisent in the chest, and Pisent responding by hitting him and calling him a "fraud."
According to Bannon, several people intervened to break up the fight. Later, Trump commented on the incident, saying, "That's too much."
According to the newspaper, Musk's brutal tactics, lack of political savvy, and ideological disagreements with the "Make America Great Again" base have caused a deterioration in his relationship with senior administration officials, and eventually with the president.

The newspaper reported that despite the tension, Trump and his Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller sided with Musk.
It is noted that on April 2, when President Trump announced tariffs aimed at reshaping the global economy, Musk turned to the platform "X" to express his dissatisfaction with the tariffs, while privately, he made personal appeals to Trump to reverse the tariffs. Trump did not comply and only backed down days later after a sharp decline in bond markets.
