هدد الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب، إيران، بالتحرك في حال أصرت على تخصيب اليورانيوم، مؤكداً أنه لن يسمح لها بالتخصيب على أراضيها. وقال في تصريح مقتضب على متن الطائرة الرئاسية، مساء أمس (الجمعة)، في طريقه إلى جيرسي: «لن يُخصّبوا.. وإذا خصّبوا فسنضطر إلى التحرك واتخاذ اتجاه مغاير»، في إشارة ربما إلى اتجاه بعيد عن المفاوضات، دون أن يحدد ماهيته. إلا أن ترمب أكد في الوقت ذاته أنه لا يرغب في القيام بذلك، لكنه سيضطر. معتبرا أنه: «لن يكون لدينا خيار آخر.. لن نسمح بالتخصيب».
وجاءت تصريحات الرئيس الأمريكي بعد نحو 48 ساعة من رفض المرشد الإيراني علي خامنئي المقترح الأمريكي حول مسألة تخصيب اليورانيوم، ضمن ما يشبه «الكونسورتيوم الإقليمي»، ما طرح العديد من التساؤلات حول مصير المفاوضات التي ينتظر أن تعقد جولتها السادسة قريباً. واعتبر خامنئي أن ما اقترحته واشنطن للتوصل إلى اتفاق يتعارض مع مصلحة طهران.
وتلقت إيران يوم السبت الماضي مقترحاً أمريكياً مكتوباً عبر الوسيط العماني، معلنة تسليمها الرد خلال الأيام القادمة.
وأجرى البلدان منذ 12 أبريل الماضي خمس جولات من المباحثات بوساطة سلطنة عمان، مع تأكيدهما إحراز تقدم رغم التباين المعلن بينهما بشأن احتفاظ إيران بالقدرة على تخصيب اليورانيوم.
ويشكل تخصيب اليورانيوم عقدة العقد بينهما، إذ تؤكد طهران حقها في مواصلة التخصيب على أراضيها لأغراض مدنية، فيما ترفض واشنطن تماماً.
في غضون ذلك، ذكرت منظمة الطاقة الذرية الإيرانية أن عملية تخصيب اليورانيوم بنسبة 60% لا تتعارض مع معاهدة حظر انتشار الأسلحة النووية.
وجددت في مذكرة رسمية قدمتها إلى مجلس محافظي الوكالة الذرية الدولية، التأكيد على أن البرنامج النووي الإيراني سلمي، ولا توجد أي أدلة تثبت تحوله نحو أهداف عسكرية. وأكدت المنظمة أن الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية تشرف بشكل كامل على عمليات التخصيب وتخزين اليورانيوم في إيران، وفق ما أفادت وكالة الأنباء «إيسنا» اليوم (السبت). ولفتت إلى أن هناك مؤشرات على وجود أعمال تخريبية ومعادية أدت للتلوث النووي في بعض المواقع بالبلاد.

President Donald Trump threatened Iran with action if it insisted on enriching uranium, asserting that he would not allow it to enrich on its territory. He said in a brief statement aboard Air Force One last night (Friday) on his way to Jersey: “They will not enrich... And if they do, we will have to move and take a different direction,” possibly referring to a path away from negotiations, without specifying what that might be. However, Trump also confirmed that he did not wish to do so, but would be forced to, stating: “We will have no other choice... We will not allow enrichment.”
These remarks from the American president came about 48 hours after Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei rejected the American proposal regarding uranium enrichment, which resembles a “regional consortium,” raising many questions about the fate of the negotiations expected to hold their sixth round soon. Khamenei considered that what Washington proposed to reach an agreement contradicts Tehran's interests.
Last Saturday, Iran received a written American proposal through the Omani mediator, announcing that it would deliver its response in the coming days.
The two countries have held five rounds of talks since April 12, mediated by Oman, confirming progress despite the declared differences between them regarding Iran's retention of the ability to enrich uranium.
Uranium enrichment is a major sticking point between them, as Tehran asserts its right to continue enriching on its territory for civilian purposes, while Washington completely rejects this.
In the meantime, the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization stated that the process of enriching uranium to 60% does not contradict the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
It reiterated in an official memo submitted to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful, and there is no evidence proving its shift towards military objectives. The organization confirmed that the International Atomic Energy Agency fully oversees the enrichment and storage of uranium in Iran, according to what the news agency "ISNA" reported today (Saturday). It pointed out that there are indications of sabotage and hostile actions that have led to nuclear contamination in some sites in the country.
