أعلنت منظمة الأمم المتحدة للطفولة (اليونيسف) أن قافلة مساعدات إنسانية تابعة للأمم المتحدة تعرضت لهجوم مسلح ليلة الإثنين، أثناء توقفها في مدينة الكومة بولاية شمال دارفور، في طريقها إلى مدينة الفاشر، كانت تحمل مساعدات غذائية وإمدادات إنسانية حيوية لدعم السكان المتضررين من النزاع المستمر في المنطقة.
ووفقاً لمتحدثة باسم اليونيسف، وقع الهجوم أثناء انتظار القافلة الموافقة الأمنية لمواصلة طريقها إلى الفاشر، وهي مدينة تشهد تصعيداً عسكرياً بين الجيش السوداني وقوات الدعم السريع.
وأشارت التقارير الأولية إلى سقوط عدد من الضحايا، منهم سائقون وحراس، مع إصابات أخرى بين أفراد القافلة، ولم تتهم اليونيسف أي جهة رسمياً بالمسؤولية عن الهجوم حتى الآن، لكن الحكومة السودانية أدانت قوات الدعم السريع، متهمة إياها بشن الهجوم باستخدام طائرات مسيرة هجومية، واصفةً الحادثة بأنها «جريمة حرب» تهدف إلى تعطيل إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية إلى المحاصرين في الفاشر.
تأتي هذه الحادثة في سياق النزاع المستمر في السودان منذ أبريل 2023 بين الجيش السوداني بقيادة عبدالفتاح البرهان وقوات الدعم السريع بقيادة محمد حمدان دقلو (حميدتي)، وأدت الحرب إلى مقتل عشرات الآلاف ونزوح أكثر من 13 مليون شخص، وتسببت في أزمة إنسانية وصفتها الأمم المتحدة بأنها «الأسوأ في العالم».
وتشهد ولاية شمال دارفور، خصوصاً مدينة الفاشر، معارك عنيفة، مما يعيق وصول المساعدات إلى ملايين المحتاجين، حيث يعاني أكثر من 3 ملايين طفل من سوء التغذية الحاد، وسبق أن تعرضت قوافل مساعدات إنسانية في السودان لهجمات مماثلة، مما أثار إدانات دولية واسعة، على سبيل المثال، في ديسمبر 2023، هاجم مسلحون قافلة تابعة للصليب الأحمر في الخرطوم، مما أسفر عن مقتل اثنين وإصابة آخرين، رغم التنسيق المسبق مع أطراف النزاع.
وأثارت هذه الحادثة موجة استنكار واسعة، ووصفت الحكومة السودانية الهجوم بأنه محاولة متعمدة لقطع الطريق أمام الجهود الإنسانية، فيما دعا ناشطون ومنظمات إلى التحقيق في الحادثة ومحاسبة المسؤولين.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced that a UN humanitarian aid convoy was attacked on Monday night while it was stopped in the town of Al-Kouma in North Darfur, on its way to the city of El Fasher. The convoy was carrying food aid and vital humanitarian supplies to support the population affected by the ongoing conflict in the region.
According to a spokesperson for UNICEF, the attack occurred while the convoy was waiting for security approval to continue its journey to El Fasher, a city experiencing military escalation between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces.
Initial reports indicated that there were several casualties, including drivers and guards, with other injuries among the convoy members. UNICEF has not officially blamed any party for the attack so far, but the Sudanese government condemned the Rapid Support Forces, accusing them of launching the attack using armed drones, describing the incident as a "war crime" aimed at disrupting the delivery of humanitarian aid to those trapped in El Fasher.
This incident comes in the context of the ongoing conflict in Sudan since April 2023 between the Sudanese army led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the Rapid Support Forces led by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti). The war has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands and the displacement of more than 13 million people, causing a humanitarian crisis described by the United Nations as "the worst in the world."
North Darfur, particularly the city of El Fasher, is witnessing fierce battles, hindering the delivery of aid to millions in need, as more than 3 million children suffer from acute malnutrition. Humanitarian aid convoys in Sudan have previously been subjected to similar attacks, leading to widespread international condemnation. For instance, in December 2023, armed men attacked a Red Cross convoy in Khartoum, resulting in the deaths of two and injuries to others, despite prior coordination with the conflicting parties.
This incident has sparked widespread outrage, with the Sudanese government describing the attack as a deliberate attempt to obstruct humanitarian efforts, while activists and organizations have called for an investigation into the incident and accountability for those responsible.
