The Syrian television channel "Syria TV" announced that Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara will visit the United States next September. It reported from informed sources that al-Shara intends, among other things, to deliver a speech at a United Nations meeting during the visit. According to the television channel, this will be the first speech by a Syrian president at the international organization in 60 years.

U.S. President Donald Trump held talks with President Ahmad al-Shara in Riyadh on May 14, marking the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries in 25 years.

The U.S. president announced that the lifting of sanctions imposed on Damascus for decades during the rule of Hafez al-Assad and his son Bashar al-Assad was at the request of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The U.S. Treasury Department issued a general license that officially allows the execution of operations that were previously prohibited concerning Syria. Sanctions were lifted from "Syrian Airlines," "Sytrol Oil Company," the Central Bank of Syria, and several oil and gas companies, as well as other entities.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also signed a document suspending sanctions imposed on Syria for 180 days to ensure the restoration of stability in the country.
