«ميون» ترحب بتمديد عمل المشروع.. «مسام» الأول في تأمين اليمنيين من الألغام

The Miyon Organization for Human Rights in Yemen welcomed the announcement by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to extend funding for the "Masam" project, which focuses on clearing Yemeni lands from mines, for another year. The organization emphasized that the efforts of all projects concerned with mine clearance and the destruction of war remnants in Yemen are appreciated, with the "Masam" project being the primary contributor to clearing residential areas and livelihoods from mines that have been randomly planted in an unprecedented manner since the start of its missions in Yemen nearly seven years ago.

The organization stated: "According to its official data, this qualitative project has managed to remove (497,544) mines and various munitions as of May 29, 2025, in a country that is one of the most afflicted and heavily mined in the world. It pointed out that the hundreds of thousands of mines planted by the Houthi group randomly and in various forms and disguises represent the most significant risks to the lives of civilians.

The organization renewed its call to the Houthi group to hand over maps of the minefields it has planted in various Yemeni governorates so that the Masam project and other programs and projects can remove that lurking death threatening innocent civilians.

The organization noted that the disaster is immense and the areas contaminated with mines are vast, exceeding the capabilities of these projects to deal with them.

The operations room of the Masam project announced yesterday (Sunday) that its field teams managed during the month of May to clear 928,086 square meters of Yemeni land, confirming the removal of 7,400 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices that posed a threat to civilians in Yemen during the same month. This brings the total removed since the project's launch to approximately 497,544 mines, unexploded munitions, and explosive devices.
