أعلن مدير عام مشروع مسام لنزع الألغام في اليمن أسامة بن يوسف القصيبي، اليوم (الخميس)، تمديد مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية عمل مشروع «مسام» في اليمن للسنة الثامنة على التوالي، مؤكداً أن المشروع يمثل واحداً من عطاءات المملكة الإنسانية تجاه الأشقاء في اليمن.
وقال القصيبي في بيان (حصلت «عكاظ» على نسخة منه): «أرفع أسمى آيات الشكر والعرفان إلى خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، وولي العهد رئيس مجلس الوزراء الأمير محمد بن سلمان بن عبدالعزيز، بمناسبة إعلان مركز الملك سلمان للإغاثة والأعمال الإنسانية تمديد عمل مشروع «مسام» للسنة الثامنة على التوالي»، مضيفاً أن «مسام» يعمل ومنذ الأيام الأولى لانطلاقته على تخليص اليمن من واحدٍ من أكثر الأساليب التي اتخذتها جماعة الحوثي فتكاً بالمدنيين في اليمن.
وأشاد مدير عام «مسام» بما يجده المشروع من دعم ومساندة من رئيس مجلس القيادة الرئاسي اليمني القائد الأعلى للقوات المسلحة اليمنية الدكتور رشاد محمد العليمي والحكومة اليمنية بكافة أجهزتها وقطاعاتها، موضحاً أن المشروع تمكن من نزع وإزالة أكثر من 495855 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة، وتطهير 67244455 متراً مربعاً من الأراضي في اليمن، كانت ملوثة بالألغام والذخائر غير المنفجرة زرعتها جماعة الحوثي بعشوائية وأودت بعدد من الأبرياء من الأطفال والنساء وكبار السن.
ولفت إلى أن هذه الأرقام -بلا أدنى شك- تمثل معدلات مرتفعة بالمعايير الدولية في مجال نزع الألغام، وهي وإن كانت تمثل بارقة أمل لتخليص اليمنيين من شرور هذه المواد، إلا أنها تفضح عبثية جماعة الحوثي التي لم تتوان عن الزراعة العشوائية للألغام مستهدفة كافة مكونات الشعب اليمني.
وأشار القصيبي إلى أن «مسام» وإيماناً من كافة منسوبيه يعمل وفق منهجية واضحة تراعي في المقام الأول ما تفرضه متطلبات المجتمع المحلي للتنقل وممارسة الحياة اليومية لمكوناته في أمان بعيداً عن الخطر الذي تمثله الألغام والعبوات الناسفة والذخائر غير المنفجرة، معرباً عن تقديره في هذا الصدد لتعاون المواطنين اليمنيين مع المشروع من خلال البلاغات التي يقدمونها، إضافة إلى اتباعهم تعليمات الأمن والسلامة التي يصدرها المشروع في المناطق الملوثة أو تلك التي يشتبه في تلوثها.
وأعرب مدير عام «مسام» عن شكره وتقديره للشريك المحلي لـ«مسام»، البرنامج الوطني للتعامل مع الألغام (يمك)، مشيراً إلى أن هذه الشراكة والتعاون ساهمت في تحقيق معدلات الأداء العالية التي حققها المشروع.
The Director General of the Masam project for mine clearance in Yemen, Osama bin Yusuf Al-Qusaibi, announced today (Thursday) the extension of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works' operation of the "Masam" project in Yemen for the eighth consecutive year, confirming that the project represents one of the Kingdom's humanitarian contributions towards its brothers in Yemen.
Al-Qusaibi stated in a statement (which "Okaz" obtained a copy of): "I extend my highest expressions of gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and to the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, on the occasion of the announcement by the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Works to extend the operation of the 'Masam' project for the eighth consecutive year," adding that "Masam" has been working since its early days to rid Yemen of one of the most lethal methods employed by the Houthi group against civilians in Yemen.
The Director General of "Masam" praised the support and assistance the project receives from the President of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, the Supreme Commander of the Yemeni Armed Forces, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, and the Yemeni government with all its agencies and sectors, explaining that the project has managed to clear and remove more than 495,855 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices, and has purified 67,244,455 square meters of land in Yemen that were contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance planted indiscriminately by the Houthi group, which has claimed the lives of many innocent children, women, and the elderly.
He pointed out that these figures undoubtedly represent high rates by international standards in the field of mine clearance, and while they represent a glimmer of hope for freeing Yemenis from the evils of these materials, they also expose the recklessness of the Houthi group, which has not hesitated to plant mines indiscriminately targeting all components of the Yemeni people.
Al-Qusaibi indicated that "Masam," believing in the mission of all its personnel, operates according to a clear methodology that primarily considers the requirements of the local community for safe movement and daily life, away from the dangers posed by mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance. He expressed his appreciation in this regard for the cooperation of Yemeni citizens with the project through the reports they provide, in addition to their adherence to the safety and security instructions issued by the project in contaminated areas or those suspected of contamination.
The Director General of "Masam" expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the local partner of "Masam," the National Program for Dealing with Mines (YEMK), noting that this partnership and cooperation have contributed to achieving the high performance rates accomplished by the project.
